Spin The Wheel And Make A Deal

Dare I think it? Dare I write it down for the world to see? I myself can't even begin to believe what I'm thinking after the show tonight. Is Dan a Dr. Will? Does Dan deserve the title of The Puppetmaster II?

I'm forever harping on editing concerning the shows and tonight is a great example. Tonight's Big Brother was made to be a showdown between Dan and Ollie. Both of them were edited brilliantly tonight. Dan as the humble teacher who misses his girlfriend yet still swore on her and his family that he'd keep his word to Ollie. Ollie who fought so hard and against all odds to stay another week in the game after losing his girlfriend in an eviction the show prior.

To even any casual Big Brother television viewer, Dan was a man of his word. Ollie was the smug bastard who couldn't stop winking and smiling in the diary room. Ollie, after all, had made a deal with Dan that he'd let Dan win the HOH if Dan would let him pick a nominee, keep himself safe, and then also pick the replacement nominee if the POV was used. Like Ollie said in the diary room, he is basically the HOH except for the official title and the pictures.

All of you know how mad I was at Dan a few days ago. I couldn't believe the stupid deal he made with Ollie and then couldn't believe that he'd actually nominate his closest ally Memphis. Well, don't let me fool you with all of this talk. I still think Dan's decision was stupid and the reason is because there were too many unknowns involved to make that kind of deal at that time. But as we now know, everything worked out perfectly for him and he has come out smelling like a rose. This week will definitely go down in the Big Brother history books as one incredulously perfect week for him.

How about some miscellaneous thoughts concerning tonight's show? Dan's nomination speech concerning vagabonds and renegades was hilarious. Dan's boo-hooing in the HOH reading his letter was even funnier. Michelle trying to throw that water balloon and failing was the bomb. Ollie's smugness was sickeningly funny.

I wonder if Dr. Will was out there watching this show tonight. What do you think he would say about Dan's deal with Ollie? What did you think you about the show tonight and the editing? Does Dan deserve being compared to Dr. Will? And do you think Dan or Ollie go the better edit tonight?

Tell me!

I'm lost HD and that is probably because I haven't seen the show. So you are telling us that after we watch the show we will be proud of Dan's decisions and understand where he is coming from. Thanks.

From HD - Yes! LOL!

Darn I just posted my thoughts at the end of the last post of yours.. feel free to relocate it.

All we need is Memphis and Dan in DR together w/ pseudo telephones and bam.. there it is Chill Town 2.

Posted by: Christine at August 24, 2008 06:39 PM

I believe that Dan is in the Dr. Will club. If you think back, the guy has never stopped thinking about his next strategy! Now I do not have the benefit of the live feeds this season (I am regretting that decision now) but I knew I would not have the time to dedicate to watching it with my workload. Thanks to you HD, I have still felt somewhat in the loop up until now. All week I was wondering if Memphis was going along with Dan or if he was really angry. In watching the show, obviously he is pissed. Is this real or an act?

I loved Dans speech and thought that the Renegade comment was a sly way to tell Memphis that he is safe. I think if he can get past this double eviction he could actually pull this off! I will be so disappointed if he doesn't make it...I don't know who I will route for!

From HD - Memphis really was pissed. More than anything though he was confused as to what Dan was doing since Dan wouldn't give him too much when it came to specifics and the deal at first.

Posted by: ktkat at August 24, 2008 06:45 PM

tomorrow's pov ceremony is going to be absolutely fantastic if everyone goes the way it is planned as of now!! ollie threatening to out dan and dan saying he will offer ollie the replacement nom in front of everyone!! manchelle goin up!! the potential conflict to ensue is unimaginable!! too bad so many of us work a day job!! we are counting on you HD for a full report when we get home and log on as you always have the most info faster than anyone!! as i said last week's chat, too bad you can't quit your day job during bb season!! you were born to blog bb!!!

Posted by: laurel at August 24, 2008 06:57 PM

I loved the show tonight. I am the only one in my family to like Dan and he really shined.

My mom likes Jerry ( the same age group) if she saw him on the feeds she might change her mind., She only sees the nice old man on tv.

My son likes Memphis I think since he doesn't say much after last season when he was all about Ryan and this season he liked Jesse who is long gone.

I feel Dan plays this game like a football coach. He does appear to think about what will happen two plays from now and if uncertain goes for the luck of the move.

I was not around for the original Will era so my first experience with him was all stars and by then I had my favorites from season past. I did very much enjoy his method of gameplay though.

I am hoping Dan can suvive this next week and make it closer to the end game.
I like Renny, but she might get the votes to beat Dan in the end since she doesn't do too much along the lines of dangerous moves so far.

But them two are who I want to see on finale night.

Posted by: footballmom at August 24, 2008 06:58 PM

I love Dan, but I have to draw the line as of 'now'. Only winning $500K, would put him up with the puppetmaster IMHO. He has come out smelling like a rose from more than one situation so far. Only time will tell if he can sustain anymore blows, and that time is getting shorter everyday.
If he pulls out the big win, I would have to 'maybe' put him atop of the great doctor, as Will never had AP to deal with. However, I'm sure Will would have taken AP money, Jerry & Aprils money and the grand prize and never looked back!
I vehemently disagree with Evel coming in second. Evel only made it by the week he was to go home because of AP, or his ass would have been put out of the house. That's a big default there! His gameplay bought him the eviction at that point of the game, and to me he ended there. And oh and by the way, he has been an ass since then! Your 15 minutes are up ED!
I loved how Dan got his message out to Memphis in his speech. And the editing was spot on what you said HD!

Christine,

Those dual diary sessions with Chilltown were the best! I have yet to enjoy another season quite as much because I have never laughed so hard at a show. It is funny how one can have different emotions about the show from season to season...last season I was just amazed at Natatlies idiotic comments...(my favorite being "I am DUN done!". The season before was pure frustration over Evil Dick and Danielle dominating the show. I have not put a finger on this seasons emotion, if I had one word right now it would be "Annoyance" with Jesse (and his arrogance) and April (what a skank!). Dan and Renny are my favorites, I guess because they are really entertaining without being annoying!

Posted by: ktkat at August 24, 2008 07:03 PM

ktkat - If you don't have the feeds, you might want to check out jokersupdates.com - a blog of the live feeds. At least you can keep up on what's going on that you don't see on the shows each week.

HD - Dan's plan - grand!!

From HD - I love Jokers but they're not a blog.

Posted by: kayTee at August 24, 2008 07:04 PM

No mention of Dan telling the Troll if he told anyone, the deal would be off... Did Dan ever say that? They did show Troll telling Manchell everything.

It makes sense now, Dan offered all the deals. Troll only wanted himself safe. Dan rolled out the 3-part plan. No way could Troll have thought all that up himself! Dan should have just stayed up there until the Troll fell.

Memphis is pissed. Hope he wins HOH and puts Dan up. Dan needs to go.

Dan's statement about whether Memphis is a "renegade" is code for Memphis to be cool. Why else even bring "renegade" up?

Posted by: martie61 at August 24, 2008 07:05 PM

I read that BB made Dan an offer to be on each of the last 3 seasons of BB. Could you even imagine him in the house with Amber, Jameka, and Dick!

I was surprised to find that Dan's deal play was more by the seat of his pants than I thought. I was sure he'd done some plotting in his head.

Hope it all works out and that Michelle, Jerry, or Gollie I'm Ollie are sent packing.

God bless her crazy little heart, I still like Michelle and want her to stay another week or two. I still think they should get rid of Ollie -- because if you are going to break a deal -- break it all the way. Dan didn't make the promise to Michelle or Jerry so he's not going back on them, he's only going back on Ollie.

Memphis is coming off more and more everyday like a bit of a smug jerk. Not just talking about his displeasure about being nominated.

Do you think Jerry will still be pissed at Dan, even if Dan saves his ass?

From HD - No. Dan had applied to be on the last four seasons of BB. Him and Monica were supposed to have been the Jen/Ryan of last season but Monica withdrew at the last minute.

Posted by: BenF at August 24, 2008 07:07 PM

At first, I couldn't understand what all the fuss was here about Dan. His hamming it up in front of the cams in the DR and winking at the cameras just got on my nerves (and I only had one left). He seemed all over the place with his thought processes. This week he's seemed focused and purposeful, perhaps b/c he has so very much at stake now. Good for him!! Nice for a change to have a thinker in there. Adam certainly couldn't be accused of critical thinking, just sneakiness. Evel Dick was trying for the Dr. Will II title, but just didn't have the charisma of a Dr. Will Wannabe. Dan may be the closest we'll ever come to in the Dr. Will Department and I suppose we ought to lean back in our arm chairs and enjoy it - barring something going terribly wrong in the next few days. I still think Ollie is a houseplant - perhaps a ficus? And Jerry is just a mean, foulmouthed, bitter, old curmudgeon. I've had feral cats with a better temperament. So. Go Dan!! Surprise everyone!! Even me!

From HD - LMAO @ your feral cats comment!

Posted by: Toots at August 24, 2008 07:11 PM

BenF part 2... :)

I thought Dr. Will was funny, but I never liked him and always thought he was a smug jerk (yes, like Memphis is becoming). I really like Dan. So it's hard for me to put him in the same group as the Dr. I always thought that Dr. Will lucked out by being in a house with a bunch of dopes. I'd put Dan in the same category as another brilliant player -- Danielle.

Posted by: BenF at August 24, 2008 07:11 PM

Oh wow. OH WOW. Father Dan = Dr. Will. He's taking the risks to win and dude, this was good. Great. I'm just impressed, seriously. He's really playing the game and playing it hard. I'm am so reiveted Father Dan, keep playing that game.

Posted by: Brittany at August 24, 2008 07:18 PM

THERES ONLY ONE DOCTOR WILL!
BRIAN WAS A DOCTOR WILL WANNABE, AND SO IS DAN.
will never won competions. Dan has. Also Dan makes deals that he doesn't intend to keep, yet he continues to say that his word is gold, and is desperate to give a good example to his students.
THIS MAN DESERVES TO LOSE HIS JOB!
i guess if he wins the show that won't be such a big deal, but backdooring michelle will cause Ollie Michelle April and posibly Jerry to not vote for him if he gets to the final two.

GO OLLIE JERRY MICHELLE MEMPHIS AND RENNY!

Posted by: joel at August 24, 2008 07:25 PM

Dr, Will and Dan...two decidedly different personalities, I will take Dan in a heartbeat. Liked Will but love Dan. Didn't like how Will played Janey, and he did! Ollie has got to go. He and April should have a wonderous relationship when all is said and done.........aren't they simply the best? LOL!! GO DAN.... I can't say it enough. The feeds are showing that Keesha and Jerry are getting into a tiff.......come on Keesha don't upset the apple cart, you can get rid of that fruitcake in a couple of weeks.

Posted by: Sandiekay at August 24, 2008 07:26 PM

HD - thanks for the corrections about Jokers.

Dan's plan this week kind of reminds me of the Nakomis "five finger deal". I also agree with BenF and can't put Dan in the same group as Dr. Will who was much more cocky and arrogant.

Posted by: kayTee at August 24, 2008 07:31 PM

It seemed as though Dan asked Ollie (while up on the vines) like 3 times if there was anyone he wanted to protect and he said no. Either Ollie didn't want to be put out on a a limb (hehe) for Michelle or just didn't think it up. I think it meant he really didn't care to protect her, just his own ass. So let's say that Michelle or even Ollie go up - Dan needs to hope that they actually go out the door or .. well best laid plans of mice and.. football coaches?

So I really want Ollie up and out, but I see why Dan has to put Michelle up. If it's Ollie vs. Jerry Dan can't really be certain that Ollie goes out over Jerry. I'd hope so, but w/ Jerry having won that phone call Renny and Michelle may have too many sour grapes in their mouth to think clearly and would end up voting out Jerry.

Posted by: Christine at August 24, 2008 07:32 PM

Someone just asked me how does a double eviction work...as I was explaining it, I started wondering if I had it totally correct, so I apologize in advance if this has been asked before and I have missed it. Can you please go over how a double eviction works? Thanks HD

From HD - I posted how it goes earlier today in the Hamster Wheel Spins post. Please, everybody, bookmark the posts below.

BB8 - Fast Forward

Posted by: lynn at August 24, 2008 07:35 PM

I think Dan's moves this year surpass Will's. No matter who won the POV, he was safe because he had someone outside of his alliance to put up. He promised on everything in his first offer to Ollie and it was turned down. I didn't hear him make the same statement on the deal that Ollie accepted.

1-If Ollie had won POV and left the Nom's the same, Jerry goes home.
2-If Michelle had won POV and left the Nom's the same, Jerry goes home.
3-If either of them had taken Jerry off, the other one goes up and goes home.
4-If anybody else won POV and took anyone off, either Ollie or Michelle goes up and goes home.

Dan put himself in a win-win situation and he protected his whole 4 team alliance to boot.

about going back on his word???? This is Big Brother. Remember Kaysar

Posted by: shawkii at August 24, 2008 07:36 PM

Fridge is stocked, plenty of food for the dogs, and all's right with the BB world, because I don't have to leave the house for anything before Thurs eviction night!! I shall not be more than a few feet away from any tv and/or computer in the house. Between BBAD and feeds, I am in BB heaven..I've watched every BB from year one and don't remember ever being this excited about POV, eviction, etc. Of course, back in those days I didn't have the access we have now. Glad the olympics are closing, no longer a conflict with my BB voyeuristic obsession...

Am I certifiable..probably, am I having fun...absodamnlutely!!

Thanks to all of you out there for making this so much fun and blessings to you and Andrew, Kimberly!

OK HD! I am looking forward to seeing tonights show. Thirty more minutes. Once more, the show will shed light on Dan's plan?? Oh never mind HD, I need to settle down and wait for the show to come so I can see for meself:). I just hope I understand that what everyone is saying is after I see the show tonight that I will see that Dan really is the man:).

Posted by: xtex88 at August 24, 2008 07:38 PM

I agree with most posters... Dan has a way to go before he becomes Puppetmaster II, although he's certainly walking in Will's shoes!

If Dr. Will is watching (and you know he is), I would bet he is lovin' Dan & Memphis - hating on Jerrie-atric, Manchell, Olliewood and probably Renny. He's probably yelling at Memphis to showmance Keesha to further his game.

My sister only watches the CBS shows Sun, Tues, Thurs and she loved April. Tonights edits were pretty good. (My sister also loves Dan, but we are Catholic). At the end, when Memphis refused to shake Dan's hand, even though I knew what happened for the next 3-days, my heart hurt for Dan. Great editing BB!

Posted by: Dixie at August 24, 2008 07:50 PM

I have no clue what is or isn't accurate, but this might be the article BenF was referring to when saying Dan was asked to be on several previous seasons...

Whatever the case -- GO DAN! Stay one step ahead of the rest of those crazies in there with you!

From HD - I hate to break it to you but people try out for BB all the time, get shot down, and then get asked to be on future seasons. And then get shot down again because they don't fit in with the cast. Just ask Evel Dick. LMAO

Posted by: Lisa at August 24, 2008 07:51 PM

BenF, I seldom disagree with you, but have to here. Season two cast members IMHO weren't dopes. (Not all of them) Season 7, Janelle, James, Diane, Allison, Kaysar, to name a few, certainly not dopes. Who else can go into the house already known as the 'best player ever', tell the HG's you hate them, and tell them to evict you and then survive as long as he did, to get Boogie to win the $500K? Nobody! Not luck, not smug, just great playing. He didn't want BB7. He wanted Boogie to have it. Low and behold Boogie won it! I loved every minute of him in both seasons, except his showmance with Janelle.
And Daniele Donato? Rode on the tails of daddy's stupidity & large ass mouth & never did a lick of her own dirty work. I do however give her that she was a great physical competitor. Perhaps you are speaking of Danielle Reyes? I did like her, but not a Will Kirby.

From HD - I didn't care for Will in All-Stars especially towards the end. The Dr. Will I know and really love (LMAO) is from BB2.

Posted by: diff at August 24, 2008 07:52 PM

Dan is not trying to be a Will. NOT AT ALL. Dan is playing the, "Im too stupid and weak to play this game." Will just played at everyones paranoia.
Will, wouldnt win the HOH at all. ;)
What Dan has done is actually pretty smart. Id compare him to Eric. If Eric didnt talk so much. Look who's actually after Dan, a 75 yr old, and Michelle, maybe, and who else Ollie? Whatever, Dan has the final 4 wrapped up. And if he has Renny Keesha and Memphis there, then I'd give the game to Dan.

Posted by: Buddha at August 24, 2008 07:56 PM

HD - I agree with you. Will in HD2 was my guy too, but the Will/Boogie feeds in the DR were hysterical!

As for poor Janelle in BB7 Allstars... I believe she got him back for his dastardly deeds when she cast the single vote to evict "Dr. Will".

Love him or hate him... the guy never won a comp but won $500K.

Posted by: Dixie at August 24, 2008 08:02 PM

I personally have gained a lot of respect for Dan over the last week or so. I guess I also bought into his bumbling, poor boy, don't worry about me because I'm just a weak sheltered little Christian who don't know the ways of the would act.

I mean I've watched him bumble his way through this game wearing those stupid cloths day in and day out. Acting kind of like a 10 Year old boy, asking idiotic questions, making childish suggestions for things to do, and all while having this goofy look on his face. So no I didn't think much of Dan throughout most of this game. But have you noticed that lately he is starting to shed some of that goofiness and I think that we are starting to see the real Dan. I was also struck by the picturers in his HOH room. first of all the picture of him on the football field showed me someone who commanded a lot of respect, or at least he looked that way to me. Secondly, I don't think that a woman as attractive as Monica would hitch her wagon to someone who didn't have a lot going for him.

As for wether he's the ultimate puppet master or not and in a league with Dr. Will I can not say because I have to confess that I'm clueless about who Dr. Will is. (Please don't be to hard on me because I only started watching BB during season 8 after catching the Evil Dick show on BBAD. Prior to that I turned my nose up to all the so called reality television programs, which I still think are pretty dumb.) Anyway, I guess only time will tell if Dan is the real deal or just a poser. I do however think that he would have played the game differently had Brian not been voted out so early.

DAN: BE STRONG, BE UNAFRAID, BE BOLD, AND DON'T LET OLLIE THE MENTAL MIDGET SCARE YOU.

Or should I call him Aaally. I don't know why Ollie doesn't just slap Michelle every time she mispronounces his name. another sign that he is a weak sister?

Maybe we should pass the hat and see if we can put together a few bucks to buy Michelle some elocution lessons.

From HD - Psst. You can buy BB Season 2 on Amazon.com. :)

From HD - Psst. I was wrong. BB2 isn't available to buy. You can get BB3 and BB4 from Amazon though. My BB2 is a self-made season.

Posted by: Jim at August 24, 2008 08:04 PM

I think Dan made a HUGE play this week so that if he happen to make it to the final two he could brag about his game play. ANd dan the man has plenty of reason to brag!!! awesome plays dannny!!!! but i will admit to flipping the efff out when he put up memphis, but now that it all worked out....WEEEEEEEEEEEEE fun fun fun

Posted by: Texasdolly28 at August 24, 2008 08:05 PM

ps... I think Ollie is currently under the delusion that he is "the Puppetmaster II".

Posted by: Dixie at August 24, 2008 08:06 PM

BRING ON THE ALCOHOL!! I just double-checked my tv listing for Thurs and BB is being PRE-EMPTED for football...other weeks didn't bother me, but not this one..
HD, I will rely on you to keep me from driving to a neighboring state where the Carolina Panther game is NOT showing.
Thank you in advance!!

From HD - There are MANY markets being pre-empted for pre-season NFL football. But I'll definitely be live-blogging this Thursday so none of you miss out on what's happening.

Posted by: SuZieQ at August 24, 2008 08:09 PM

HD, Season 2 puppetmaster was the ultimate Will Kirby, but I enjoyed him in 7 too. When I saw the cast, I truly had my doubts that he would be able to out play James Rhine, but he sure did. But you are very right, season 2 is the best of Will Kirby.
Psst.. I bet you have season 2 on DVD, huh HD?? LMAO!!

From HD - I must confess.... But I do have to correct something. BB2 isn't available on Amazon (BB3 and BB4 are though). My BB2 is a self-made season. LOL

Posted by: diff at August 24, 2008 08:15 PM

Do you happen to know if BB1 is for sale anywhere? I would love to have that, as so many things from then have escaped my memory. Old age I guess. Would be great for when the BB withdrawals, tremors, twitches, etc. hit about mid November!

From HD - BB1 isn't for sale anywhere. You'll have to find other means to score that season.

Posted by: diff at August 24, 2008 08:24 PM

BB1 is like Fight Club diff.. Rule 1 - no one talks about Season 1.

You can find parts of it on YouTube though. My favorite part is watching Julie's hair through the seasons. She really had super big hair in earlier seasons and was considerably paler.. seriously would like to compile a photo montage of just her hair if I had the time and PhotoShop chops.

Posted by: Christine at August 24, 2008 08:41 PM

I loved season 1, just have forgotten a great deal. Loved Eddie...

Posted by: diff at August 24, 2008 08:50 PM

We are also being pre-empted for football on Thursday night here in the northeast so I will be here to see the drama unfold. This is nonsense, changing the night to Thursday and then not having the show on until two in the morning every other week.........yuh, that is how you build an audience.

From HD - Well to be fair, football brings in a bigger audience than BB. LOL

Posted by: Sandiekay at August 24, 2008 08:50 PM

Dan and Will are both very clever players, but totally different people. Dan actually has a conscience, I don't think Will did. Dan is also not the showmance type, and he would not want to hurt someone like Will hurt Janelle. But Dan is a Puppetmaster, make no mistake about that. Will used his charisma more, and his plans weren't as complex. If Dan wins, or even Final 2, he's an equal player to Will in my book. But it really isn't up to me, it's how popular Dan becomes. And Dan doesn't really have the sex appeal Will does, so I doubt he'd be as wildly popular as Will is. As a person though, I like Dan better. As a player, I think Dan is very persuasive, confident, and smart. A great combo.

Posted by: Dee at August 24, 2008 08:50 PM

If Dan puts up Michelle he's making it much harder for himself to win in the end by having 3 jury votes against him (April, Ollie, and Michelle) meaning he has to go 4/4 on the other jury votes. Seems to me like it would be the smarter move for Dan to have Renny put up and Jerry voted out.

Posted by: Don at August 24, 2008 09:14 PM

Diff,

Since we are usually on the same page I will allow you to disagree with me this once. :)

Yes, I was talking about Daniele Reyes.

I think Dr. Will won because of (a) a few people in the house who were complete dopes, (b) a little bit of luck, and (c) mostly because of his alliance with Boogie. I think it is the best alliance ever on BB because never have two mean, humility-challenged asses been more on the same page as Boogie and Will. But I don't think Will was the best player, so I am being stubborn about putting Dan in the same category as him. I put Dan in the scrappy and scheming category along with Danielle Reyes and James Rhine.

I know... Waa waa waaa. Do I sound more like Dani or Keesha right now? :)

From HD - If I'm not mistaken, Boogie was the fourth person evicted in BB2. They barely knew each other then. How did that help Will in that season?

Posted by: BenF at August 24, 2008 09:18 PM

I posted earlier on the last update about my comparision between Dr. Will and Dan. I like Dan but Dan is no Dr. Will. Dr. Will is in a class by himself. He never won anything, was mean to everyone, and outplayed the best. He is the reason Bogie won All Stars.

I agree that Dr. Will never had to deal with America's Player, but in All Stars, everyone knew his game and he still finished 4th.

Dan is along the line of Danielle from Season 3 or James from Season 6 (or was it 5). He has had the benefit of some good timing. He was targeted after week 1, and has flown under the radar.

Dan is top 10, maybe top 5, in the "puppetmaster" mold, but just not the best. The next 5 weeks will tell a lot more.

Posted by: Jeff G at August 24, 2008 09:24 PM

Um, to be a puppetmaster you actually have to get people to do things that you want. How has Dan done any of that? Will played his seasons differently, but still got the job done twice. Dan hasn't won anything but some of you people think he's better than Dr. Will? That's crazy talk.

When Dan goes back on his deal with Ollie tomorrow he will lose the jury votes of Ollie, Michelle, April, and Jerry. He is only playing for final 2 at this point and is handing the game to Keesha, Memphis, or Renny.

Posted by: Liz at August 24, 2008 09:24 PM

The next 2 HOH comps are probably short and simple Q&A, and Michelle would be so much better at that than Ollie. On the basis of even just the next HOH, it's smart to get rid of Michelle who has a quick memory AND power in physical comps. And for Dan it does make sense to salvage the most important part of the deal he made, to protect Ollie, which is all anyone can expect in a deal anyway.

Posted by: Dee at August 24, 2008 09:32 PM

don, dan will not make it to the final if he doesn't take out ollie or michelle right now!! you can't play this early thinking about jury votes. you have to play to make it to the finals! you can only think one or two steps ahead.
as far as the thursday night, thank heavens i am in the midwest!! the game on nbc is being televised not cbs!!

Posted by: laurel at August 24, 2008 09:33 PM

If I am remembering correctly Boogie and Will helped each other out quite a bit in the 33 days Boogie was in there. Will was in serious danger of eviction a couple of times in the early weeks wasn't he? And I could have sworn they had a great friendship in there.

But whatever -- I can continue to karp away about it like an ignoramus or just admit that the whole premise of Dan being "worthy" of being compared to Dr. Will has just sent me over the top of Mt. Obessive. :)

From HD - LOL

Posted by: BenF at August 24, 2008 09:53 PM

I must say I wasn't impressed with tonights show. The only thing funny was when Dan was pretending to cry, that was funny. I really think Dan could have out lasted Ollie in the HOH comp. A couple of more minutes or even seconds Ollie was out and Dan wouldn't have to be taking any risky moves. I will be more impressed with Dan when it comes to POV tomorrow. If he doesn't put up Michele or Ollie he is stupid. Watching the BBAD so far tonight it seems like he's made another deal with the bafoon Ollie, can't make out what it is, I sure hope not. So if Michele or Ollie goes out Dan was just lucky, that is all. I am with Memphis on this one. Strange deals Dan made with Ollie. Dan is my favorite, but not if he doesn't put up Michele or Ollie tomorrow. And I haven't quite figured out if it should be Ollie or Michele. Dan needs to take some of the power back. I think Dan should go to Ollie and tell him hey I am putting up Michele and if you don't like it I will put your ass up there and we will vote you out. He needs to tell Ollie he will not vote Ollie out if he doesn't put him up if Ollie wins HOH next week. Take some of that power back Dan. That is what I think Dan should do at this point. Any thoughts on this?

Well I am glad you knew that Obessive was meant to be Obsessive.

Keesha really has a bee in her bonnet right now. I hope she can keep her dang mouth shut and just let it go. I've never seen anyone who's been safe so many times and yet has allowed her feelings to put her on the precipice.

Speaking of feral cats...does anyone know how I can safely "disipline" the Spawn of Satan calico kitten that I adopted a month ago? I was operating with the obvious misconception that I was good with cats since I just had to put my 20-yr old down (a cat, NOT a child) and still have a 16 year old alive and frisky, but this kitten is destroying the underneath lining of a $1000 leather chair, intimidating my cousin's 18 pound 17 year old "retired tomcat", leaping up the windows to try to tackle the stained glass panels and interrupting my BBAD viewing by bouncing off my head and biting my ankles. Most of the crap I can take with a grain of salt, but when RubyRose (a.k.a. Spawn of Satan) starts interferring with BB10 or BBAD, it's maddening... Tossing her in jail for a time-out isn't working very well... neither is loving care and kindness. LOL!!

I never watched BB prior to BB8, so I can't do a Dr. Will comparison with Dan. From the posted comments I take it that Dr. Will is to BB as Babe Ruth was to baseball.

I have found Dan to be the most watchable character and I admire his flexible gameplay, from laying low early to stepping up in the competitions now.

Dan's reaction to Jerry's Judas outburst (seeing the outburst as a very positive thing for himself) showed me someone who was not going to let his emotions rule. Dan has a $500,000 goal and he's proven to be focused and objective in advancing to his goal

I think his deal with Ollie and putting Memphis up for nomination was the football equivalent of "throwing the bomb". He knew there were risks and he took a calculated shot. Memphis winning POV made this pay off.

If Dan doesn't win the $500,000 it won't be due to lack of imagination.

Toots: Water in a spray bottle when they commit the offending activity. Did that after my cats chased an iguana up a Christmas tree one year. After that, they never knocked a single ornament off the Christmas tree again!

Biggmouf,

Did I read that correctly?

"shut it HD you're just bitter , ollie is playing a great game."

Wow. Talk about taking the short Fantasy Bus to Pretentious-ville. Sorry Cubby, but are we talking about the same Ollie? He's won how many competitions thus far?

Colour me confused here, but unless I'm very much mistaken the Minute Man's time in the house up until Thursday last, was almost entirely dedicated to getting his little carrot wet and the only game he played up to that point was "Hide and go Hump".

So now, having made one deal, (which in all likelihood is going to blow up in his face faster than a North Korean long-range missile test on the Fourth of July) you're ready to hand him the laurel wreath?

Wow. You're truly to be congratulated.

You've taken optimism to a level we haven't seen since General Custer said, "No, really don't worry guys. We'll just shoot in the air a couple times and this cat, Crazy Horse'll turn tail and run like hell."

Damn, those little arrow-head thingies sting, huh?

DRATS

after the moved he pulled tonight to solidify Renny in their corner against Ollie? Hell yeah - So long Dr. Delicious, hello Father Dan!

Toots: like Coleen with one "L" said, water in a spray bottle but you have to do it so your "Span Of Satan" does NOT see you doing it [ambush her, catching her IN THE ACT, NEVER after the fact, it's pointless], try sheets of tin foil taped underneath the leather chair [use masking tape, it will leave less glue residue], tape tin foil over everything you don't want her to attack/ scratch [I know it will look horrible but hopefully you only have to do it for a few months and then when you see she leaves certain areas alone you might be able to remove the foil slowly], old towels, sheets, blankets on furniture to protect from scratch marks, LOTS OF PLAYING/ DISTRACTION, try a laser pointer for her to hunt down the 'spots'. About 'attacking your head and ankles, usually kittens will attack anything that moves [you in this case], give her objects to attack [paperbag or cardboard box with small ball inside, kitty tease [pet store], etc. You need to gain her trust which might be nearly impossible but YOU have to have PATIENCE!!!!
I had a similar kitten from an animal shelter who passed away after 15 years at my house,I got her because I had thought my older cat was lonely, BIG mistake, lol, but the older one wouldn't take any crap from the 'little one', still the sound of two female cats fighting, tumbling down the staircase at each others throats was pretty disturbing. Then we got a dog [Lab/ Collie Mix, also from the shelter] and kitten and dog became best friends, playing and grooming each other. Don't give up!!!! It could be the lights through the stained glass window or from TV, PC that sets her of? E -mail me if you need to talk!! Please remember: NO ANIMAL WANTS TO BE 'BAD', they have been through horrible things we can't even imagine and are SCARED!!! MY sympathy is with you, I know it will not be easy but every animal is different and it's UP TO US to adjust to what each one needs, it will be frustrating trying to find solutions but also very rewarding once you make some progress. DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!

Father Dan - is there someting that I don't know?
Dan was lucky or at least it seems so! If Dan made the deal with ollie and swore on his famaily and Monica - then he needs to keep his word - because he gave his word on something very important to himself - same as if you sware on the Bible - you keep your word - even in in a game. Why is everyone on this blog so fond of keesha? She can be a big pain in the backside. I am not yet ready to compare Dan to Dr. Will!!!
It's nice that Jerry got a phone call but he should be home looking after his ill wife - sort of like many Honourable men do - and many of them were not in the Marines - they just do the Honourable thing - they doe their duty.!

joel
sorry you just have sour grapes. Your team is not winning at this point and you dont like it. It could change next week you never know in this game.
I for one never like Dr. Will he was a smug B@#%^# but he was a good player.
but this is just my thoughts

have you had crazy cat fix sometimes that helps. but you cat might need a friend. I also have a crazy cat and giving him a playmate did help. but get her fix that will help.
from one cat person to another.

O yea go Dan

CBS has dramatically changed the game since BB2. There was no PoV at that point, etc. How funny that it was initially called the GOLDEN (oooh) Power of Veto and Mrs. Chen had to say that shit with a straight face week after week?

With each new season, current hamsters have the advantage of learning from previous seasons....though sometimes for these idiots, knowledge of previous seasons appears to actually be a detriment. Hi Michelle and Jerry (Paw Paw!).

I don't think Dan has accomplished enough up to this point to be group with with past winners and/or the best BB players. Getting to final 4, final 2 etc requires a huge amount of luck.

I believe that Dan's move this week was based more on pleasing the producers/audience than actual strategy. The deal he put together was unnecessarily complicated and relied too much on luck. It would be different if he had dropped first and been the one to outline the terms of the deal. But he WON and went for what he thought would earn him a pat on the head from Grodner, and us.

I admired the game play of Roddy in BB3, who was so loathed by Danielle Reyes. "He's the devil!" At this point, I'd compare Dan's gameplay to Jack from BB4, and Diane from BB5. His persona is more similar to Jason from BB4, Drew (and maybe Karen) from BB5, and Ryan from BB9.

Like Dan, Nakomis emerged from the shadows to make a big play and she ended up 4th.

For Dan to be considered among the greats, he has to make it farther in the game.

I have a question. Does anyone know approximately what time they will hold the POV Ceremony? I watched the feeds quite a lot over the weekend and saw Ollie (sickeningly) act as though he truly has the upper hand. I heard him say that Dan has absolutely no choice but to go with them - or he will "out" him... Is it possible that Ollie is as stupid and naive as he portrays himself to be? On another note, last night the three stooges, I mean musketeers, (O/M/J) were sitting outside mercilessly slamming Renny - while she is inside preparing everyone's dinner. Bad form, guys...

Anyway, my original question did have a point. I am ashamed to admit that I am considering taking half a day off today so I can go home and be as non-productive as possible watching the feeds. I would be heading home at 10:00am MST; is it possible they would hold the ceremony earlier than that?

From HD - The ceremony is usually around 1:00 PM Pacific. I think you're safe leaving at the time that you've planned. ;)

Thanks for your help! (Love the site!)

I totally agree with xtex88. Thought the show was average and not at all impressed with Dan giving up and making deals for no reason.
Loved how Memphis was making fun of Dan's "Taken" shirt. Of course he will be wearing it 24/7 in replace of the St.Mary's shirts I am sure!
I do like Dan and LOVED how is gets on Renny's nerves! I know so many people like Renny and it is nice to see someone poking fun at them! Also like that Dan keeps some personal info. private, what a difference from last season!
I agree with everyone and HD saying that I do like Dr.Will but not the showmance with Janelle. Although I was disappointed in Janelle for being so gullible, I had always thought she was a stronger competitor.
Anyway, looking forward to Thursdays show and crossing my fingers that Dan makes a brave move of putting up Ollie or Michelle, hopefully Michelle!

OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH....remember me?? I have said all along that dan is the best player EVER..dr will needs to look up to dan the man...i have really loved dans' logic and game play and he deserves to win it all....as for ollie..can he be any dumber???? oh, i forgot there is michelle and jerry...THE THREE STOOGES LIVE!!! what total idiots they are..LMAO

Posted by: debi at August 25, 2008 07:41 AM

Well, he never swore on his family after the first offer Jenna. When he made the second part of the offer, he NEVER swore on anything or anyone! Don't get me wrong, I think Dan made a bad decision on this deal. Wish he would of just held on a little longer without the deal, ollie was fading fast on that rope!!!!

Posted by: stacey at August 25, 2008 07:46 AM

I love Fr. Dan, too, and I especially admire the way he has stayed calm and calculating through the whole game, but without jumping too far ahead. --But was his plan really all that risky?

It seems to me that the only thing he was taking a chance on was Renny's vote. Even if Memphis didn't win the veto, as long as the vote was tied (Ollie and Michelle vote to evict Memphis and Keesha and Renny vote to evict Jerry), Dan gets to break the tie without going back on his word to Ollie.

With Memphis taking himself off, Dan gets to play the "you weren't supposed to tell anyone about the deal" card - which he had to know big-mouth Ollie would do when Dan made the deal with him! After all, it was Ollie who blew Brian's cover in the first couple of days in the house. Ollie can't keep a secret to save his soul - which may need saving after April is done with him!

Posted by: shopgirl at August 25, 2008 07:46 AM

Actually - the part where Dan promised on Monica and 'all he holds dear' and whatever? was not to put Ollie up - the deal Ollie turned down originally with the "I can't do it, man." Not any of the rest of the deal. He didn't repeat those words for the final deal by design.

Posted by: Lessa at August 25, 2008 08:33 AM

"Dan as the humble teacher who misses his girlfriend yet still swore on her and his family that he'd keep his word to Ollie."

this was after the first deal was suggested and when Ollie refused then his swearing was null and void. The current deal was the second offering. Hope Dan remembers this if Ollie tries to bring it up.

Posted by: devans at August 25, 2008 08:53 AM

IMHO Dan is NOT trying to be the next Dr. Will. He just is!!! The difference being that Dan has seen that he needed to win competitions or risk going home whereas Will relied fully on his charm. I was so glad that Dan got HOH only to have him totally fail me and put Memphis up ... really his plan was a good one but I trust Renny about as far as I could throw her and still think she would voted Memphis out. What I love about Dan is that even after he went against his word and voted Jesse out these stupis stupid people still think that he would never go against his word!! And now we have Michelle thinking that she is save LOL

Posted by: dora at August 25, 2008 09:46 AM

I didn't start watching BB until season 8 with the Donato's. So I'm not familiar with Dr. Will.

Did he make deals for absolutely no reason too?

Ollie's only requirement was that he'd himself be safe. Dan offered the rest about a second person being safe, letting Ollie choose who goes up. etc...I could see Ollie being mad and feeling betrayed if Dan puts him up (which I think Dan is going to do). But the rest of the offer you have to charge it to the game.

Ollie wasn't even concerned about Michelle's safety until Dan offered it. Again, IMO that was nothing more than Dan trying to add some interest to the game. He would've gotten the same results had he saved the theatrics and selected his own choices for the block minus Ollie and his input.

Memphis will not forget about Dan putting him up and will return the favor as soon as he gets the chance.

The best thing that Ollie can hope for is that he does go home this week. That way he doesn't have the opportunity to continue to look like a doofus to America.

Jerry should save his "slow sperm" one-liner for Ollies departure.

I swear if he mentions the legally binding (sarcasm) "PINKY SWEAR" between Keesha and April one more time i'm going to scream! lol This guy had the opportunity to throw Keesha under the bus last night yet he says he really doesn't know anything. Goodness make up something!!! All the bashing sessions between him, Michelle and Jerry you would think something would've slipped in by Osmosis...lol ugh what a goof!

Posted by: bb10_observer at August 25, 2008 10:05 AM

Regarding Dr. Will and Dan, I don't think Dan is up to par with Will's psychological gameplay and strategic organization to the pint. Dan slided through this game basically under the radar and acting weak, not quite a hard thing to do. He is however fortunate he's with quite the idiots, mactors, and people who play personally rather than strategically which helps. So is he Dr. Will? No. But he's no doubt the best player of this season.

Posted by: Jack at August 25, 2008 11:41 AM

Dan is VERY fortunate that his moronic nomination of Memphis didn't come back to bite him in the ass. His winning the HoH will put a big target on his back, and I think Ollie or Michelle, Jerry and Renny will all put him on the block if they win HoH. Keesha might as well depending on the circumstance. And come to think of it Memphis might put him up as well if he needs a pawn just to return the favor.

Dan is no Will. I agree with BenF when he said that Will won more so due to the fact that nobody seemed to be wise enough to see through his bullshit. He would just give them all that "dreamy" smile while claiming that he hated them all and they would become somehow hypnotized by his "charm".

The fact that he would befriend someone like Booger boy showed me his true character. But you girls do like the doctors don't ya?

Anyhow, enough Will bashing by me... wouldn't want to get banned from this site ya know!

Dan is nothing like will. Dan actually gets along with and I think genuinely likes some of his fellow HG's. He was the one that initiated the alliance with Brian and Ollie to begin the game and somehow came out unscathed from it. Brian's over exuberance made him the target instead and Dan got a get out of jail free card.

Dan has since laid low and tried to not cause waves until he became AP and the fulcrum as the swing vote in the house. Suddenly he had enemies again and had to start winning to stay. Unless the chips fall just right for him he will be a target for the next two or three HoH's no matter who wins them.

Anyhow, I agree that Ollie is an ass hat for acting like, and really believing that, he is pulling the HoH puppet strings. He will certainly be surprised today.
