First Show Of BB10!

After watching the first show tonight, I believe this will indeed be a freaking fantastic season! Thirteen people and all strangers? Oh yeah! Bring it on!

I was glad that they didn't spend too much time on everybody getting their Big Brother keys back home. That segment usually drones on but it seemed shorter tonight and I was happy about that. For those of you that wonder about this sort of thing though, April was the first hamster shown to get her key.

The hamsters looked really shocked when Julie told them about the game beginning before they enter the house. Nervous laughter and wondering looks at the others -- it was priceless. I liked how they did the voting. Everybody stepped down to a short wall where they had a notebook with everybody's pictures inside of it. Julie told them to vote for one of their fellow housemates to become the first HOH. But did Julie tell them who won HOH after they finished voting? Of course not! I knew she was going to drag it out for a couple of segments.

Renny, Dan, Angie, Jessie, and April made up the first group to enter the house. Then Libra, Brian, Keesha, and Memphis entered. Finally, Steven, Jerry, Michelle, and Ollie entered. There was no arguing over rooms or beds and everything seemed to go swimmingly. Well, except for Renny's weird comments while everybody was working things out. It seems she rubbed Angie and April the wrong way from the get go.

Everybody then gathered around in the living room and introduced themselves to each other. That's when Jerry (and many others) got to feel up April. Her boobs are real! Her boobs are real! Personally, I could care less. But hey, a woman offering others up a feel will always make an interesting first impression. Renny didn't appreciate April's openness though and thought it was inappropriate. I wonder if Renny was jealous that nobody accused her having fake breasteseses.

The others' introductions were way less dramatic. The big omission I caught was that Steven did not tell the others that he was gay. Libra told them all about her twins being different skin colors and Memphis made sure to tell everybody he was a mixologist. Dude, you're a bartender. Deal with it!

Before they found out who the HOH was, they had a competition! Yay! The competition was called "Buggin' Out" it was a really cool looking comp. They split into two teams of six (Jessie decided he would sit out) and gathered in the backyard. It would be team red against team white. The backyard had two classic cars (a 1966 Mustang and a 1969 Camaro) and somebody would be winning one of the cars. (I want the Camaro!!!) But first, each team had to get all of their team members into a Volkswagen Bug that was hanging upside down.

Each team had to pull their Bug across the ropes it was suspended on. They had to pass to one side of the yard to gather a gas can and then pull the Bug to he other side where one member of the team would be kicked out of the Bug. If you were kicked out though, you wouldn't get the chance at winning one of the classic muscle cars. The final person left in the car on the winning team would got the chance to pick which car they wanted. Also, the winning team would be eating regular food for the week while the losing team would be on slop!

The red team won easily! Memphis was the last person left in the red team's car and chose the Camaro as his prize. Why did he have to be the one that won? It had come down to Memphis and Steven in the Bug and both really wanted the car. But Steven was a big enough man and chose to bow out and let Memphis take it. I think that's going to be a good move for Steven later on in the game.

They were then called back inside to find out who the first HOH would be. Renny came in second place with three votes. With four votes, Jerry was elected the first HOH and a little while later everybody came up to check out his HOH room. Complete with tons of pictures from home and his United States Marine Corps blanket, the HOH room looked very cool! With less than 24 hours before nominations, we were treated to some segments that showed us a little more of the hamsters' personalities in the house.

Renny got on many people's nerves one night because of her screeching voice and weird laughter. Some were trying to sleep but Renny was causing a big fuss about a door being locked. Jessie was especially perturbed by her disregard for her fellow houseguests trying to sleep (meaning him) and confronted her later about it. Basically, he was acting like a little baby and Renny seemed as though she didn't care what he had to say.

We were also shown that Dan, Brian, and Ollie have created their own little alliance with Jerry on the outer fringes. Brian told us in the diary room that they'd pull Jerry along until one of them had to jump ship. Brian seems a little cocky doesn't he?

At the nomination ceremony, Jerry told them all that it's hard for him to try and judge who should stay and who should go. But let's get down to business. Michelle was the first person deemed safe followed by Angie, Memphis, Libra, April, Brian, Steven, Keesha, Ollie, and finally Dan.

You got it! Jessie & Renny are the first two hamsters to be nominated for eviction this season. Jerry told them it was basically due to their "conflict" the night before and decided the house should decide which of the two should go so that their "conflict" doesn't continue. Jessie told us in the diary room that his opinion wound up biting him in the butt while Renny called him a weasel. Brian gloated and told us that the nominations were a victory for him. I'm getting an icky feeling about him!

On Tuesday, we'll find out who won the POV and if it will be used. Personally, I could care less if it's used because I don't have a problem with either Jessie or Renny going home first. I'd probably like to see Jessie go first though if I absolutely had to pick one person. I don't like the big muscle guys in the house and he seems like he'll become a big crybaby in the house.

So what did all of you think about the first show this season? Do you have any favorites now that you've seen them in action? Who gets on your nerves so far? Let me know in the comments!

Be sure to join everybody in chat until the live feeds start and beyond! I'll be in there myself gabbing away while re-watching tonight's show.

This is going to be AWESOME! Renny is already on my very last nerve. I loved it that she said she hoped they all like her. Not. So. Much!! And what, for the love of Pete, is up with her damn hair?

Posted by: StephanieG at July 13, 2008 06:55 PM

Renny MUST go!!!

Not too keen on Jessie either. I think he drew too much attention to himself by volunteering to sit out during the first competition, AND by confronting Renny.

I like Jerry. Michelle and April don't seem too bad either. That could, and probably will, change for me though. lol

Wow!! I am so delighted with the kick off of this season and loving that they are strangers. For the most part I like the HG's and do have favorites already.
The moment I saw Julie in that red dress I knew what was to happen from the inside source. But loved the show none the less. This poster sure knew just what to give us, not to totally ruin it.
Little disappointed that most of the personalities you got to see were the men and Renny, but an hour is short. I don't think Brian is 'icky' at all, just protecting his ass. And honest too.(for the moment) I would have loved to see him let Dan go on the block, but he kept his word. But you are right about Jerry being so easily swayed. He didn't seem to give it a second thought!
I loved the food comp and agree Steven was the bigger man. Don't care for Memphis. That was one of the best sets I have seen BB come up with in a long time.
Like the noms and hope Renny goes. But would be happy with Jessie also. My choice would have been those two, Dan or Memphis anyways. Heard the pov gets used, so either Dan or Memphis would be a good replacement.
Like Brian, Steven, Libra and Angie with the little knowledge of them I've seen/heard. Actually, I hate to say this, but Ollie was okay. His crack about gays and lesbians still holds me off of him though. Thought April was too over the top and acting like Natalie.
Enough of my take. Can't wait for my feeds to start. These fish are getting old already!!!

First I thought Renny should go but after the BIG stink that Jessie made about Renny making nosie and waking the poor baby from his beauty sleep , bye bye Jessie!!!!!

Loved the first show, house and the guests!!!! Can't wait for Tuesday!!! Any chance that we will see any comps on the live feeds????

From HD - No idea! Your guess is as good as mine at this point. LOL

Posted by: Shirly at July 13, 2008 07:26 PM

Renny needs to go, glad she got nominated. Her negativity, voice and laugh, yuck!

And pretty boy Jessie, excuse me, did he honestly think that in a houseful of people -- all was going to be quiet and peaceful so he could get a good night's sleep. ...Has he ever watched the show?

First comp was really a neat one, but disappointed that Memphis won the car. Do not like him, and that was confirmed watching and listening to him tonight.

Glad Jerry was voted HOH, but disappointed that he was so easily manipulated by Brian. But I don't think Brian is icky. Just playing the game from the get go.

Disapointed that we didn't have as much with the gals, but we'll have time to get to know them.

I'll probably change my mind on these people several times before we hit the end, but at least this time, there is a lot of interesting people to observe.

Great show. No favs yet of course. Need a little more time to pass better judgements on these people.

I'd like to see Jesse go. Though Renny gets on everyone's nerves, I'd like to see that happen a little longer, and see what she's made of, and how the rest handle it. As for Jesse, I think HE thinks he's a huge threat b/c of his size. Big deal. So you're naturally big!

Not sure who the girl was that was sticking her boobs in everyone's face to be touched, but that was digusting, especially since she JUST met them. I don't know why girls feel compelled to do this in a group of strangers or to anyone for that matter. Attention, I guess.

It was interesting to see how Brian played Jerry, b/c I really thought Jerry would be stronger than that from his interview. I hope he can see the forest through the trees to get him far in the game; I'd like to see him stay for quite a while. He doesn't seem like a push over, but...

Here's hoping to a great season that we can all enjoy. Thanks once again HD for all your time and efforts in making us comfy here.

Loved the show and that Renny would be great to stay in the house. I don't like her but she would be great entertainment on the show. She is like another I Love Lucy!! Her hair.. lol... Poor Jessie what a baby. I do not like Brian at all he is trouble. April.. I hope we don't have another Natalie!! yuck! Not sure about the others yet, guess we will see in time what the hamsters will do. Glad to be back HD!!!

I loved every minute of the show.... well every minute that Renny wasn't on the tube. So I loved two thirds of the episode. So far my opinions of everyone are the same. I still don't like Jessie, Memphis, and April.

I really like Dan. I think if he plays his cards right, he will be very exciting to see play this game. He already had Brian save his ass, and do some dirty work. What happened to some of the girls? You barely saw Angie and Libra.

My bet is if noms stay the same Jessie will be gone, if someone is replaced the replacement will be the person leaving.

I'm getting antsy to watch the feeds.

Hello all,

I started watching BB with season 8 and am now addicted. I was wary about this season before tonight's show, but am liking it very much. I am from Iowa and am a huge Iowa State fan so pulling for Ollie because he played football at Iowa State in college (Way to represent by wearing an Iowa State shirt on the show tonight Ollie). I love this three person alliance on Brian, Dan and my man Ollie. The one person I'm not down with is Renny so I'm glad she nominated. If she goes home first week the show will be better off. Love the show and this site. I found this site at the end of last season enjoyed it and wished I found it sooner.

From HD - Thanks for the compliments Scott! :)

Posted by: Scott at July 13, 2008 07:57 PM

No one has mentioned it yet, but I can't imagine leaving my 3 babies for that length of time, sorry Libra, I just don't see it! She will probably break down and bow out in a week.....
I don't think Jerry is a pushover, he may just be going along to make a strong alliance. It's no skin off his nose who leaves, and he's making Brian happy, so big deal, right?
I have been waiting for this show seems like forever! It's going to be a great season!!!!

Posted by: Dee at July 13, 2008 08:11 PM

i am soooo excited!!!! i dont have any favs yet, but i loved tonights show i cant wait to see how this season goes!!!!

Posted by: lauren at July 13, 2008 08:19 PM

I hope Jesse leaves, he's too whiny! So far, I like Jerry and Ollie the most, and Jesse the least. This season seems promising.

Posted by: Jeremy at July 13, 2008 08:27 PM

So glad there are no "secret" relationships, feuds, family members etc. Nice to get back to the original concept.

Don't know how Libra could leave 5 month old twins though. It's a long time to be away from babies so small.

Am really liking Jessie. Don't think he's the push-over Brian seems to think he is.

Hope Jessie goes. His "I'm a threat 'cause I'm a body-builder' line got old fast.

I found tonight's show actually offensive. I think that if CBS is going to air racial slurs on TV, there should be a warning ahead of time. Or at the very least, the houseguests making the slurs should get a formal warning. On the UK show, making a racial slur will get you removed from the house. Don't know what I'm talking about? Obviously, CBS doesn't have a clue, or they probably wouldn't have aired it. Saying that someone is "off the reservation" and then enlightening us immediately afterwards, that they mean that they're not playing with a full deck is a racial slur against Native Americans. I'm not getting the feeds this season, and I am offended that CBS made no move to acknowledge in any way that this is offensive. My sister watches the show with her 3 yr old and 7 yr old grandkids. Children watching this will think this is an okay thing to say. I thought it was just inappropriate. Okay, sorry people, rant over. I don't like any of them yet, although Libra seems all right.

Can I just say, I want Alice to win BB AU this week!

Posted by: sandic at July 13, 2008 09:15 PM

Angie's already sharing her cigarettes with Brian. Her nine cartons won't last long, lol! Actually, its a good strategy to find a smoker without cigs and befriend them... afterall, it worked for Baller. I just don't like Brian.

Hi, This is my first post but I've been watching
since Season 1. Loved the show! Loved how they
did over the house. The nominations? Both of them
are annoying. I could care less who goes first but send the other out next week.

From HD - Welcome to Silly Hamsters Michele! :)

Posted by: Michele at July 13, 2008 09:20 PM

Hi HD. Thanks for putting out the welcome matt once again!

I agree; i think it is going to be a great season. Here's my take so far:

- the 2 smartest: Brian & Angie
- the 2 nicest: Steven & Libra
- the 2 sexiest: Angie & Steven
- the 2 dumbest: Jessie & Renny
- the 2 who aren't half as smart as they they think they are: Dan & Memphis
- the 2 who may surprise: Jerry & Keesha
- the 2 I'm thinking about liking but not quite ready to commit to them: Keesha & Michelle.
- the 2 who will be manipulated the easiest: April & Jessie
- the 2 I'm praying don't open a can of Good vs. Evil: Ollie & Dan
- the 2 I'm hoping don't sit and talk about Obama 24/7: Libra and Steven.
- the 2 I'm hoping don't sit and talk about McCain 24/7: Brian and Jerry
- the 2 who will probably hook up (unless Big Brother has put a ban on hooking up this season after last season's Dionysian festival): April ("Touch them Jerry, they're real") and Dan ("I'm probably going to do bad things in the house but will just confess everything afterwards and everything will be okay").
- the 2 I'd probably be friends with outside the house: Angie and Steven
- the 2 who will win the most POV's: Angie and Steven.

Oops, looks like I like Angie and Steven the most - so far.

I think Renny will go home and my reasoning is too long to write and since I've already written so much, i won't.

(Hey Diff!)

Posted by: BenF at July 13, 2008 09:32 PM

Sandic - - from a literalist's perspective, to refer to a crazy person as being "off the reservation," would be a slur to everyone who is NOT Native American - - -as Native American's are ON the reservation. And a comment was made that her elevator doesn't go to the top floor. Is that a slur to everyone who lives or works on a top floor somewhere? C'mon - - you know I respect your opinions and you've been one of the pillars on this site for years now, but on this one, I think you're really grasping here to make this a racial slur.

HD - First: Congratulations on your lead, out of the gate, in Fafarazzi. Second: Re: Mixology. At first I thought that by Mixologist, Memphis actually worked for a beverage company that would concoct different cocktails for marketing to the general public. If he really is just putting drinks together that customers are asking for, then he's a bartender. And mixologist would refer to someone who STUDIES mixing - - not to someone who actually does it. Criminologists study crime -- they don't commit it. Oncologists study cancer - - they don't create it. So a Mixologist (again, from a literalists' perspective) would study mixing. But, alas, the dictionary definition does not support my logic and defines a mixologist as, "a person skilled in making mixed drinks; bartender." BUT - - it also adds that the term is usually facetious! Which, makes sense now - - since Memphis seems to be, overall, facetious! (DEFINITION: "lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous")

I noted in the interviews who was a fan of the show and who was not - - in order to study how well, or poorly, they play the game. Memphis, who admits to not being a fan, played poorly out of the gate (1) taking the car; and (2) commenting on how he didn't understand how Jessie could sit it out. Jessie, obviously, figured out that winning could put a target on his back, though he also figured this out without being a fan of the show. But - - he DIDN'T figure out that if you are involved in conflict in the house, that could also put a target on your back and we see where that got him after this night's episode.

Brian is also not a fan of the show. Nor Ollie. Nor Dan. Brian and Dan look and act like twins and it is not surprise that they paired together. I'm also waiting for the blondes to pair up. But their alliance is likely going to surface soon - - as I'm guessing it already has given Jerry's change of nomination against the one person who he had thought to trust. So much for that strategy, huh Brian? I really thought that Dan was going to annoy me the most, but he didn't. Brian did, with Memphis coming in a close second.

Renny? She's not the brightest bulb in the pack - - but this isn't intended to slur lightbulbs! And her laugh is annoying. But, like Linda wrote, I want her to stick around for a while. She is much more interesting and unpredictible than the youngsters to watch. AND - because she is so crazy and unpredictible, it would probably be too dangerous for anyone to trust her and pair up with her. THIS fact, however, could be her salvation. Do you want to vote off the odd-ball lunatic who nobody likes much, or the guy whose muscles mean that he'll likely win most strength competitions, or the guy who, 15 minutes into the show has already made a binding alliance with 3 others? I'd vote out the last guy (Brian) in a heart beat. Oh, and by the by - - I thik that Brian is a closeted gay guy. Good looking. A guy's guy. And gay.

I'm looking forward to seeing what went down to make Jerry change the nomination from Jessie to Brian. And I'm hoping Brian goes home. So much for loyalty amongst the military men in the house! ;-)

QUESTION: Why is the POV on a nail by the side of Jerry's picture? Do the pictures rotate to permit this? I didn't notice nail hooks or even spaces near the other photos for the POV.

Posted by: Coleen with one "L" at July 14, 2008 03:11 AM

Did anyone notice on the Picture wall the 14 bigger style picture this year with a Big Brother 10 being in the middle? The thing I find strange is that picture has a slot like all the other pictures. Is the house a HG too?

Posted by: Renea at July 14, 2008 08:24 AM

Renea writes, "Did anyone notice on the Picture wall the 14 bigger style picture this year with a Big Brother 10 being in the middle? The thing I find strange is that picture has a slot like all the other pictures. Is the house a HG too?"

I think that the studio audience gets to vote during the live eviction. Perhaps they'll throw a key in the slot once they announce the twist? Or perhaps it's because the photos can be re-ordered depending on who wins POV and perhaps the studio audience could win POV or HOH?

Posted by: Coleen with one "L" at July 14, 2008 09:27 AM

I wonder if someone might have commented on what I'm about to say in the most recent blog entry from HD, which I haven't read yet. But to address what Coleen and Renea stated about the picture wall, Brian (like him or not, he seems pretty astute) said last night during BBAD, "I know what the twist is, America is also a houseguest." Did anybody else catch that? Anybody have any thoughts about that?

Posted by: Pat at July 14, 2008 01:28 PM

I have thoughts about newly made alliances. Personally I think the alliance between Dan and Brian is premature, extremely rushed and not well thought out. To read more click on my name.

From HD - I don't mind anybody promoting their personal or favorite website. But please keep it to the URL link when you post your comment. Thanks!

Posted by: Talibah at July 14, 2008 02:26 PM

I have been a fan for years, this group is a mess already, the crying (Angie)over a game comment, give me a break, I do not like Brian want him out of there first. I like Jerry, Michelle, still figuring out the others. Renny is weird she owns a hair salon and wears capped wigs. goofy. The Texas gal Libra is too bossy, the blondes have weird laughs.Dan is a weasel. Watch out for Memphis and Steven. Just this grammys opinion Go Jerry represent the grandparents out there. :)
