7 Days To Go
Ladies and gentlemen, young and old, welcome to the tenth season of Big Brother USA!
On Sunday, July 13, Big Brother will begin it's tenth season of hamsterly madness at 8:00 PM ET on CBS. Julie Chen, our hostess with the mostest, will be back yet again to guide us through the season. Except this time, she won't be alone. On eviction nights, she will be joined by some of the most rabid fans in the entire galaxy -- Big Brother fans!
With just this final week to go before our internet bandwidth begins its seasonal ascent, tons of news will be breaking each and every single day. Who are these new hamsters? Where did they come from? What do they look like? What is their mission in life? And most importantly, who is their best friend's brother's girlfriend's mother's nephew and what might they say about them?
According to Allison Grodner, the game begins before they even enter the house. Is Allison telling us the truth or is she lying to us? Might somebody be given the boot before they even enter the house? There's a live eviction scheduled for July 16th so we're going to have to wait to find out what all of that means. But if there are two evictions in the first week, we'll already be down to eleven hamsters. Eleven sounds like such a lonely number so early on in the season.
The best thing about what I've heard so far about BB10 is that the hamsters will all be strangers. Might it actually happen? Not since BB3 have all of the houseguests been strangers to each other. The next best thing I've heard about BB10 has been that the hamsters will vary in ages. No more will they be a concentrated block of twenty-somethings with a thirty-something and forty-something thrown in. It seems as if there will really be a variety when it comes to their ages. I really appreciate that because I'm quite tired of listening to the young'uns drone on and on about nothing except their tans and favorite positions.
Rumored houseguest lists have been posted (here and here) and reading those lists is one of the fan rituals each season. How much do I believe those lists? Let's just say that I believe the second list more than the first. Does that mean the second list is true? Absolutely not.
I guess we're going to find how much is true and how much isn't true when the Big Brother 10 cast is revealed on The Early Show on Tuesday morning, July 8. What happens when the hamsters are revealed? You got it! CBS' Big Brother page gets updated so we can read all about their likes and dislikes ad infinitum.
On Friday, July 11, we'll get our first tour of the house on The Early Show. How much might they change the house? Personally, I don't think the layout will change much (if any). The thing I'm most interested in is what will be in the backyard and are they going to get rid of the old cushion covers on the back lounge that have just been added on to since BB6?
After enjoying a very relaxing Fourth of July, I spent the rest of the weekend cleaning. I cleaned everything I could lay my hands on because I know cleaning won't be at the top of my list for another three months or so. I gave my friends and family the Big Brother talk and they just rolled their eyes at me. They're used to 'the talk'. They liken it to me going away to a deserted island with just my computer and online friends for awhile. In other words, they don't call or text me unless it's an emergency. I have them trained quite nicely I believe.
So are you ready for Big Brother 10? Have you given 'the talk' to those around you yet? Because if you haven't, time is running out! Are you going old school in your snacking this season and opting for peanut butter & jelly sandwiches (I am!) or are you stocking up on oatmeal?
What does your pre-season Big Brother routine include? And are you as excited about BB10 as I am?

I would love it if the hamsters truly don't know each other. Half of the fun was them learning about each other instead of the hamsters informing the other house guests about all of the baggage that is is in the house with them.
I am so glad that you have trained your family and friends so you can enjoy your obsession in peace. After all if HD is comfortable then we get information quicker which feeds our obsession. Then we can actually get away from the TV long enough to earn money :)
Can't we all just zone out and forget about bills, elections and troubles and just have a little fun watching a TV show ?

From your second link, "A 31 year old who’s from a predominantly white neighborhood... has a pair of rare twins"
Not sure if you are interested in random speculation, but someone at Sucks has speculated that these "rare twins" are heteropaternal superfecundation twins, i.e. they have different fathers.
I don't know if the speculator has any basis for this assertion but it would sure be interesting if it were the truth, to see if she would reveal this fact and/or how she explains it.
(If you'd rather not post this because there is no basis in fact that I know of, I would certainly understand and would ask you to please just delete this!! Thanks!!)

Looking forward to your comments and insights. You are one of the main reasons I watch the show!

HI!!!! I am excited for another fun filled summer of BB....I wish it already started! About the slop vs. peanut butter, How about if the Hamsters got a choice and were able to picked what they wanted to be put on??? It could be done a variety of ways, like at the beginning of their stay, or after each loss they get to choose...anyway..I will be celebrating again with my annual Big Brother Bash....My friends and I will meet at my house and have a celebration and watch the first night together..then we will complain that we don't like these hamsters, and in a week or two we will be talking about them like they are family...Can't Wait!!! Love your site, check it daily....

Hi HD!
PB&J all the way!
I have given my family and friends the talk, and unfortunately I too get the eye rolling!
Some have even asked if, "that show was still on!"
I am glad you and everyone else on this site is here, as no one else I know joins in on my Big Brother fun!
Looking forward to an old-school season of Big Brother!
Bring on the strategy & strangers! :0)

Funny, you have The Talk.
And your family/friends know to leave you alone during BB seasons.
I dont watch the Live Feeds, I only watch Showtime AD (and the regular show).
I get my extra fix via Showtime when I have the time, its really hard to watch every one.
Often I FF thru the boring parts and watch the interesting parts.
If I watched the Live Feeds, I'd totally become addicted and I'd never work, work out, or do anything else I do in my daily life.
Showtime is my nice abbreviated way of getting extra BB.
I try to watch Showtime a few nights behind when the real show is on, as I am one of the few people on this site who like to not know things like who won POV, or who got nominated etc.. before seeing them on the regular show.
I also time when I log onto this site, bc I know if I log on certain days I will know things I dont want to know yet, so I only log onto this site right after the eviction when I know nothing else has occured yet for there to be spoilers on.
I still like to be surprised by the relevant game events on regular show, but I know I am totally in the minority with hard core BB fans.
Most of you guys already know who won POV or got nominated way before the show airs.
I know, I am totally different from most of you guys on that, but I still consider myself to be a huge BB fan.
Anyway, I have VERY high hopes for this season.
Was it me or did Allison Grodner imply subtly that last season was subpar? I totally got that vibe during that interview, even though she didnt come right out and say it.
Don't get me wrong, I still love even a subpar BB and watch religiously. But I have this feeling this season is going to be really really good.

I have anxiously been checking this site to see when things will start happening for the new season. So glad the time is almost here for it to get going.
I haven't had "the talk" yet, but know with just a few days left, I better let everyone know I will be in "the zone" for the next three months.
Thanks for all the info HD and I look forward to another great season!

Hi everyone! I'm new here! Please be gentle with me! ;o) I am so excited! My DVR is already set in case I'm not home for a show! I've watched every season and look forward to this every summer...YAY! I too get the eye rolls and head shaking/sighing from my family... but yet they ask me about what's going on with "that show"... I think they're closet watchers and won't admit it!
I was hoping the winter season would be a special treat, but was let down... It was "addicting" to watch.. but not for the right reasons... it seamed all I kept rooting for was for people to be voted off.. Once Natalie was finally gone, I just didn't care anymore.
Hopefully this year will be a return to the earlier years of BB... and the rumors are true that there will be more of a variety of people... some with brains/strategy and good game play! (and finally someone to root for!!) Bring on BB10!! Woo Hoo!! :o)
From HD - Welcome to Silly Hamsters Mommalette! :)

Hello Ms. H.D. and All,
I'm so looking forward to maybe getting one or two hamsters with a brain!! I got so tired of that shallow drivel of BB9 that I really didn't care who did what to whom. It was all so tired and boring and plastic surgical. Let's hope Alison listened to the fan comments and actually chose people older than 26 or so who have had one or two thoughts about something in their lives. In spite of all, I really miss my BB fix and thank you, Ms. H.D., for keeping me up to date on all the goings on. I don't have either Showtime or feeds so need your help badly.
Best in BB,
Nanette

Hi HD, I was just setting the Tivo for the season, and found that there is going to be a tour of the house on Entertainment Tonight on 07/09. It should be interesting!
