A Sign?
Well folks, it seems as though we finally know how CBS might be planning on getting away with keeping us in the dark when it comes to who is evicted and who wins the first part of the HOH which will be shown later today. Perhaps we won't even know who wins the second part of the HOH as well until the live show airs on Wednesday and we (the live feed watchers) find out right along with the vanilla TV show viewers.
You don't know what I'm talking about? Well do me this favor then. I know many people use BB Reloader and/or a few other programs to watch the feeds so, if you're one of those people, close out those windows. Now, start your RealPlayer and go over to the Big Brother tab. Then click on the link to watch the feeds (if you want to ask Dick and Janelle questions in chat on Thursday, this is the way you'll do that as well). Once you have that going, check out the player. Notice something different? You should! Check out that "Watch Replay" button at the top of the video feed. Click on that to take a trip back in time. Yeah, you're seeing things right. You're watching what happened at the beginning of this season. Now click "Watch Live" to go back to real time. Of course, if you already watch the feeds through the Real Player and are watching them now then you should be seeing that button already.
Now the cynic in me remembers what happened back in Big Brother 6. I wasn't none too happy when CBS decided to cut the feeds to keep us from finding out: Janelle winning the POV (she was the HOH at the time as well), her taking Maggie off the block and putting Ivette up in her place, Jennifer being evicted, Beau winning HOH, and Beau's nominations of Howie and Rachel. Yeah, we missed finding out about all of that. So like I said in the first paragraph of this post, perhaps this is CBS' way of appeasing the live feed viewers and giving us something to watch to keep us in front of our computers. But we all know that Grodner could care less about the live feed viewers and all she really cares about is the TV show itself.
The optimist in me believes that maybe we're just being thrown a bone here. The action on the feeds has been kind of lacking lately so maybe CBS is just giving us a bigger assortment to choose from. Who knows?
Either way, I'll be emailing somebody at Real Networks today to find out what's going on and will update this post when I get an answer.
Until then, what is your opinion on all of this?
ETA at 10:59 AM - I've been told by a nice person at Real that the feed replay is starting now so that they have time to get the entire season replayed before Big Brother 10 starts. My thought on that is, very convenient for CBS don't ya think?

Gotta say Big Sis all of that confused me so to sum it up everyone who has the live feeds CBS has some how fixed it so you CAN NOT see the things before the show, correct?
From HD - This only primarily affects the people that subscribe to the live feeds. If you don't watch the live feeds then yes, this post will be very confusing to you. But how it will affect you is that there won't be any live feed updates because the people watching the live feeds won't be able to see what's going on in live time in the house.

I don't have the live feeds but I do watch BBAD so I wonder if they'll cut that as well and show a movie or something. I don't remember them ever doing that before but I don't think they've ever not done all the evictions live, have they?
Posted by: AmyK at April 21, 2008 05:57 AM
HD. It's 9am. I haven't had my coffee yet. And I barely have a clue what you are talking about since I am a luddite and don't have BB Reloader or the feeds. Nevertheless, I eagerly await the outcome of all this after your convo with Real Player.
And since I am the only one on here who actually kind of likes her, I send my love and support to our Dear Lady of the Elongated Vowels Sounds and Mispronounced words. May the news of the GP's relationship produce a miracle for her. Go Sheila.
From HD - If you don't have the live feeds, then this doesn't pertain to you.

WHERE ARE YOUR BB FANS?
Yes, folks after Nat's wrongful evictions the show has been more than BORING...where are the fans?
Well, one can even tell that by the dramatic reduction in people willing to post a comment on your blog...
Well, like it or not... Nat was the most popular Fan! Unfortunately, the show isn't rigged to bring her back for her 9lives unlike James.... What is hilarious are the number of times that Ryan and Adam talk about NOT LETTING THE DR ROOM "MESS US UP," Sorry to break your bubbles... but the DR room had alot to do with Nat eviction. Well, for all those fans which lack critical thinking skill there you have it!
Yes, it's a show and not a game that should be audited because their is money involved!
WAKE UP HAMPSTERS!
Posted by: jdl at April 21, 2008 07:14 AM
Fan in the house. And a feedster... Think it is pretty lousy that we can't see what we pay for, but that is BB. Not the first time this has happened and most likely won't be the last. Can either bitch and move on and enjoy what you can or turn it off. This season more than any of the previous 8, I would be more inclined to do the latter, but the diehard I am, won't let me.
I loved watching ED in the first part of the HOH last year. Me with 5 special needs kids to get up in the AM, (oh God, I sound like Shelia) stayed up 7 1/2 hours to watch that. I, who hated ED, even felt sorry for the old bag of wind by the end of that comp. I can only hope that this years part one is no where near as good, since I am being forced to miss it live.
But give up on BB, NEVER. They would have to pry my cold dead hands off my keyboard!!!
Posted by: diff at April 21, 2008 07:42 AM
PS I don't think DR is trying to mess with Adam or Ryans game. I think that is why they told the house about the GP's, as Ryan was still thinking Adam and Shelia had a connection.
Nat being the most popular, I don't think I agree with that. I do think that Nat fans can click a button quicker and more often than anyone though. Think James was/is the real most popular.
Not a James fan....
Posted by: diff at April 21, 2008 07:48 AM
You just can't tell, diff, about who is really the most popular. James has a lot of fans who are quick to flood the boards with "James is America's choice" type posts. If most people really do like James best, then that scares me in more ways than one. Yikes!!
Posted by: gray at April 21, 2008 08:00 AM
sorry, since natalie was evicted - this show just fell flat for me. see you for season ten!
Posted by: tate at April 21, 2008 08:12 AM
You pay for live feeds, and get feeds that aren't live? That sucks. Might cause many feeders to just do what the next tier does...clipser & youtube.
That is horrible they treat the feeder fans like that.
Posted by: ClayPo at April 21, 2008 08:23 AM
It looke like they're getting ready to start the refeeds now because unless they do, they won't have enough time for them to go through the whole season before BB10 starts (80 days from today in July 10-and the BB10 starts the 13th)
Posted by: David at April 21, 2008 08:25 AM
We used to have a clue who was the most popular but CBS/BB took down the popularity poll link. They did same for Survivor. Does anyone know why?
Posted by: BenF at April 21, 2008 09:08 AM
Gray, Oh yeah, scary huh?
Posted by: diff at April 21, 2008 09:21 AM
After what Ryan just said it sounds like BBAD will also be recorded. DARN
Posted by: Texasdolly28 at April 21, 2008 09:48 AM
As a first-time feed-watcher this season, I actually don't mind that they will be cutting the feeds off. I have enjoyed watching the feeds and having 24-hour access to what's going on in the house, but the sacrifice has been that the TV episodes have been bo-ring for the most part. I already knew 90% of what was going to happen each Sun, Tues, and Wed, and usually could determine how the evictions would play out based on house conversations. I'm all for them building toward a climax and then having some suspense before the final 2 is revealed -- it's like reintroducing the magic of Big Brother to a bunch of loyal yet jaded fans. I'll be anxious and annoyed for a few days, but the payoff will be much better than if I already knew everything that had happened.
Sorry -I'm not feeling very cynnical today. Maybe it's the fact that the Boston Marathon is taking place outside my window. Lots of excitment and cheering -- and fried dough -- hard to be in a bad mood!

Keep your fingers crossed for me! I dumped off my application and they did video for BB-10 audition today.
I had the interviewers laughing, I hope it makes it's way to the top!
From HD - *crosses fingers*

I don't get the feeds, but I find out so much from this blog that often I don't need to watch the show.
I think that CBS is trying to keep the last few competitions a secret so people will watch the episodes. As for the time between the competitions, what are the hamsters going to talk about but the outcome, so that would give everything away too.
Of course, I can count on HD to blog the episodes too, so I still may not watch the episodes. Thank you, HD!

BBAD is being taped now. We will be seeing what happened earlier in the day tonight so we all will be in the dark to winners, losers, and the evicted.

Just wanted to say I luv your site! Thanks again for posting...Great Job!!
Yeah I tried that with Real player(I have BBReloader too..haha) I have a laptop too..so I had that on and went to my desktop and waaaa-laaa...you're right..I have instant replay..cool hahaha..Room 1-19 rocks..Weeeeeee Mooooo
From HD - Tell them I said HI!

The best thing that ever happened was when Nat walked out that door. In my book she was the least popular. I never liked her and I hope she is having a bad time in sequester. so much for that!
I have a bad feeling now that the HG's got their bags, it won't be long until POV, eviction and HOH endurance. There won't be anymore feeds until after tomorrow nights show. makes me sad. I want to see the endurance!!!!
Posted by: Linda at April 21, 2008 10:32 AM
Thanks for the update HD. Unlike Loulou, I love having the feeds and watching the show. It's fun to see how the editors put it together-sometimes funnier then the live version. This season I've relied you more than ever, HD, because I teach and can't stay up for BBAD and can't be on the feeds live for long. Being on the east coast is hard because the HG usually sleep when I could watch them the most. I hope the stuff we get to see is at least interesting. Hoping season 10 is better-love my summertime passion.
From HD - I'm with you. I love seeing how they edit the show vs. what we see on the feeds. I too hope BB10 is better than this season.
Posted by: Trish at April 21, 2008 10:48 AM
Had the feeds for several years and dropped them this year..got tired of flames, trivia, etc..have had Showtime for years and now I just watch BBAD and catch up here for the things I miss..Thanks to all of you feeders!! Still hoping the Breadtruck gets the boot..
Posted by: SuzieQ at April 21, 2008 10:48 AM
HD- what do you mean by vanilla tv viewers.
From HD - I mean the people that watch only the show and have never watched the feeds or even checked out any websites about Big Brother at all. The "show only" people.
Posted by: Patricia at April 21, 2008 10:50 AM
I almost got sucked in to ordering the feeds but I was told that the Veto comps and some others were blocked. It hit like a bolt that if they did that then it's all a scamm! So much for 24/7 BS. Now look what's happened. The entire season is built up for this final comp and it's blocked out. I guess if BBAD will be messed with then I will not reorder ShowTimes for Season 10.
Posted by: Shawn at April 21, 2008 10:51 AM
I just thought of something, If there going to block the feeds and BBAD then why not show us what's going on in the other house. I'm sure what's going on in that house is more fun to watch then the 4 Hamsters and 2 GP's.
~Just my .02~
Posted by: Shawn at April 21, 2008 10:54 AM
They just said on another site that they are filiming Showtime right now in the house so tonight they will not be showing real time ...
Posted by: TRICIA at April 21, 2008 11:10 AM
ClayPo, don't know you from Adam, no pun intended, but I sure hope you get on BB10. Make sure you let us feedsters and 'silly hamster' readers know who you are if you get in. Sure would be nice to have a 'homey' on the inside. You are a 'homey' as this is where we live during the season! And make sure you give this site a plug or two!! I'm not a Whamber or part time thumper as Nutalie, but I'll put a prayer out to the Big Guy for ya!! Good Luck!
Posted by: diff at April 21, 2008 11:30 AM
It's not really logical to screw the feeders by blocking the finals. We pay for this crap and have to endure endless trivia, blockages, etc. already. I'm just reserving bitching rights here, you understand. I'm hooked no matter what they do. The live feeds and HamsterDame are two simple luxuries that I allow myself and do it without guilt. "Hi! My name is Toots and I'm a BBfeed addict!" Now, y'all say your part!!
On to nuts and bolts. Somebody tell Breadtruck to pull up his damned pants. I don't miss gNat at all. Sheila could stay in that fetal position and no one would notice or miss her. Adam's eyes almost fall out when he's telling a lie. I wish Sharon would get laryngitis. Go GPs!!! Can't wait to see what happens next, even if I don't like it.
What a sick puppy I am....
Posted by: Toots at April 21, 2008 11:33 AM
all i know is i am over paying 39. for watching the live feeds. and all i am seeing is flames, triva, 4 cameras on one scene, and not being able to see competitions only at cbs whim. sorry real, but blame cbs for losing my business. its cheaper to join showtime and see whats going on other than the live feeds. besides, i can get the details on blogs like this.
Posted by: bernie at April 21, 2008 12:10 PM
I wondered why that button showed up today. So far so good on the feeds though. Right now they are locked in the boat room though. Not sure how much longer they will be up.
Posted by: Elaine at April 21, 2008 12:26 PM
HD I try what you said on the new watch replay andit took me back to way back in time. then I hit live feeds. It frezed up. I hope they show us livefeeds or I will be PO. I hear something about showtime tonight bb time 9pm on joker. I hope they show us who gets out and all on feeds.
Posted by: Susan at April 21, 2008 01:09 PM
Cancelled my Real Player feeds two seasons ago, and will never again use their service because (although you can easily sign up online) you are forced to call and cancel the subscription personally.
Not only do they outsource these phone calls to India, but they make you endure several questions begging you to keep the service from someone who barely speaks english.
I will keep my "vanilla tv" and feed off the feeders out here in the innerwebs. Thanks to you HD for enduring the RealPlayah fiasco season after season. It would be nice if they would leave the feeds on as they advertise 24/7. Maybe we can all bring a class action suit against CBS and Real? ;)
Posted by: Gregor at April 21, 2008 01:45 PM
They better show us the endurance part of the HOH, or I will be seriously pissed. That was the best part of the whole season last year. We always know who won before the regular show. I'm with you on liking to see how it's edited. You can definitely see the bias of cbs when watching the show on TV.
Posted by: sandic at April 21, 2008 02:00 PM
Well, they certainly have been playing hard to get for the live feed followers, and it is a pretty lousy thing to do.
I have decided that after the final show in a week, more or less, that I am DUN watching BB9 for the season, and will not watch again until BB10. That will teach 'em.
From HD - LMAO!!!
Posted by: Sleepyeye9 at April 21, 2008 04:17 PM
Well. That's that. Sharon is gone, gone, gone. I guess we can now watch Adam change his mind repeatedly, closely followed by Ryan changing his - or is it vice versa?? And Sheila will lie on her bed, staring at the ceiling or the camera on the verge of tears or chase the boys around. Joy.
