Studio City Emergency
Let's not kid ourselves concerning tonight's episode of Big Brother. It was all about Amanda and Allison. They may have only taken up about ten minutes of the show but it was definitely all about them. Now nothing against those of you who are new viewers, but those of us who are long-time watchers are always shocked when we see other people in the house. And I'm talking about those that shouldn't be there.
We've seen mimes (those of you who know me know I love the mime from Season 4), jugglers, and even vertically-challenged people posing as garden gnomes. It's always been fun but they were supposed to be there. So to see Nurse Tammy and her brigade of sexy firefighters tonight was a little unnerving. Hearing about what happened and watching what was shown on the feeds (before they cut to flames) pales in comparison to what was shown tonight.
First, Allison was jogging outside and letting off some steam after her fight with Sheila. She began breathing really hard and told Sharon she had to go to the diary room. We heard Allison in the diary room say she was having an allergic reaction, her throat was closing, and that she needed an EpiPen. Nurse Tammy introduced herself and administered the EpiPen.
While that was going on, Amanda was complaining to Natalie that she didn't feel good. She said she was hypoglycemic and Natalie went to walk her to her bedroom but Amanda passed out in front of the storage room door. Natalie freaked out and ran to the backyard to yell for help. James and Ryan ran in and James turned her over. Alex ran into the diary room and then Nurse Tammy showed up to squirt glucose into Amanda's mouth. This was freaking intense!
James held Amanda while Nurse Tammy forced juice down Amanda's throat. The others in the house were watching as the firefighters came in and took Amanda off on a stretcher complete with neck brace. I have to admit I started crying sometime during this segment and only realized it when they showed Amanda crying while she was wheeled out through the diary room saying she only needed some sugar.
Thankfully, both of the women were OK and made re-entry into the Big Brother house a few hours later. Everybody was excited to see them and hugged them and expressed how happy they were to have them back in the house. I have to say one of my favorite parts of the show tonight had to do with Adam and Matt saying in their diary room sessions how much respect they had for James in this whole situation. Actually, all of their diary room sessions that they showed concerning this medical situation were touching.
Besides all of this, the episode showed the Power of Veto competition (Jericho-themed and Joshuah/Sharon won it). It was fun to see Joshuah admit to having a Britney Spears obsession like so many others do. We also saw the big fight between Sheila and Allison that happened right before Allison's allergic reaction. Then we saw Sheila, Amanda, and Allison all hug and make-up after Amanda and Allison came back into the house. To top it off, we watched Joshuah/Sharon not use the POV which left the nominations the same (Alex/Amanda and Matt/Natalie on the block).
Who will be evicted? We'll find out live tomorrow night, Wednesday, February 27 at 8:00 PM ET. Be sure to join me back here tomorrow where I'll be live-blogging the show as it happens. I'll also have a chat room set up for all of you so that you can chat amongst yourselves during the show.
What did you think about tonight's episode? How do you think they covered the Amanda and Allison medical emergencies? How much of the strip show and almost pool orgy do you think they'll show tomorrow? Of course, they'll have only a limited amount of time to show anything but I wonder if they'll show any of it at all. And that includes the Matt/Natalie fight.

For a change, I thought the show tonight was well handled. Pretty concise regarding the medical emergencies. Have to admit that it sort of choked me up, too, even having already watched the live showing.
Posted by: SuzieQ at February 26, 2008 08:01 PM
I'll admit it, I cried too. Twice. Once when they showed the scene with James holding Amanda while Nurse Tammy took care of her. And also at Sheila's diary room when she got choked up. And Amanda and Sheila are probably my 2 least favorite HGs.
I'll def. be tuning into BBAD tonight, hopefully I won't have to witness Nat performing another lactation demonstration! LOL

Tonight's show was truly intense. Watching it from the feeds was nothing compared to what we saw tonight. One thing I must say though. Allison told Nurse Tammy that she was feeling fine after the epi shot and told the house something else. She had to go to hospital to be checked out of course and I am glad she is okay. But she lied to the house about the intensity of her allergic reaction. Amanda is the one that was so scary. She was so pitiful and she was so out of it. Sheila impressed me more than anybody other than James who was a real hero tonight. Sheila made me cry in her Dr and her reaction to the Amanda situation as it was going on. Great show tonight. I hope that Amanda and Alex get to stay tomorrow night, but who knows? IT IS Big Brother...lol.

This was definitely one of the most intense episodes of Big Brother that I've ever seen. It'll be interesting to see how this changes the dynamics in the house.

Why didn't they use the POV??? I would have just to stop Opperation Condor!!! I hate James!
Posted by: Greg at February 26, 2008 08:13 PM
As a parent of a diabetic child with epilepsy, I too felt teary watching tonights show. Seizures are scary and they grab at your emotions. I often feel helpless in helping my child, even though I am doing everything possible. Others become frightened just watching and are unsure what to do. You could see the range of emotions in the house.

I was impressed with tonight's show. Didn't think they could pack so much in, but they managed to do that. Intense is right with the two medical emergencies. And the feeds I saw didn't come close to showing all of what happened to both gals. Tonight did. You could see most of the house guests were really affected by what happened.
James really kept his head during the whole thing. Took him only a couple of seconds to realize he needed to hit the panic button. May not care for some of the things he does for late night activity, but he stepped up to the plate very well. No wonder he was so affected, and Chels had to change her tune when the two of them were discussing it in the HOH room later that night, when she was going down the "Amanda was going for Drama" path. James stopped her fast by saying he was right there and there was no faking going on. I noticed they did NOT show Chels comments with regard to that tonight.
Suspect they won't be able to show much from the orgy night. Maybe show a little of the pool kissing action, but that would be it, if they even show/acknowledge anything.
Would like to see Nat and Matt go, maybe things will "clean up" abit late at night... but who knows with this group.

Yeah, I too shed a tear. CBS did a good job editing. I know a lot of people don't like Amanda, but she has grown on me and is really becoming one of my faves, along with Allison and James (not just because of these incidents). I really hope after tomorrow's evic, that they separate the pairs and let them play for themselves!

Hopefully someone will remember that this is just MY opinion. My opinion on the Amanda 'episode' stands. My husband is a trauma surgeon and I'm a RN. Plenty of 'actors' roll through an emergency room in a day. It's our job to treat them no matter what. Just because she went to an ER doesn't make it real. She could have really been as ill as she made it appear, I wasn't there as wasn't anyone else here. But my opinion is 'drama queen'. If you don't agree, that's fine, but I feel the last person to blast me a few days ago, just should take it for what it is, my views, not yours. Wouldn't be on this site if I had to 'conform' to someone elses opinions. Don't believe for a moment thats what HD had in mind when she started this site!
I really wanted to see Alex and Amanda leave this week, but after this weeks 'goings on', Alex is surely about the only normal person in that house.
I think Alex should stay, but still want Amanda out. However... I agree with a recent post up there somewhere, Matt and Nat are skanky as all get out. (Nat more that Matt) Would there be more game with these two gone? Probably so.. Would the porn disappear? Probably so. So I think I am going to change my mind and would like to see Matt and Nat leave. I was a #4 on your last post and sure want to be able to 'get into' this game. When I turn the feeds on, I feel dirty! I want that feeling to go away!!
Posted by: diff at February 26, 2008 09:44 PM
I have to agree with diff. As a RN and paramedic I have some serious doubts about Amandas medical episode. Even more after seeing tonights episode. Nurse Tammy - ah not real sure why she was trying to force fluids down Amanda's throat. Glucose gel yes, fluids - no, not if she can't hold the glass herself. Makes me think nurse tammy had some of the same thoughts that it wasn't real. Not that it justifys what she did. Just my opinion.
Way to go James in stepping up.
I hope Nat/Matt go and it brings back real game playing to BB9.
Posted by: chopperchick at February 26, 2008 10:31 PM
I thought this was the best episode this season. It showed how people can be on the verge of smacking the poopie out of people but then something like a few medical emergencies will bring people together.
Probsbly not for long but it was still nice to see.
It's good to know that CBS put those peanuts from the Jericho fans to good use!
Posted by: Parazombie at February 27, 2008 04:06 AM
I agree with the RN. after watching it again on the show, not the clips I have seen...it looks so fake. She_ Amanda, was faking it. At one point she says to James, what happened..WTF! She didn't black out....c'mon..what an actress and a bad one at that....I really like Alex though so I hope they stay and get rid of trashy natty!!!
Posted by: meredith at February 27, 2008 05:09 AM
I still don't buy something about the medical emergency stuff. I think part of it is a set-up. I don't know where or how - but I think part of it was staged.
Posted by: Piehead at February 27, 2008 05:58 AM
And here I thought I'd be the only one to think Amanda's condition was more drama than actual serious. Enough of that because I sure don't want to open that can of worms again.
On to the strategy talk. I think Matt/Natalie need to go this week. Keeping them would not benefit anyone in the house as they are tough competitors and generally liked in the house. And have a serious chance of winning it all. Amanda equals drama. And if a person could take her to the end she surely wouldn't get the votes to win. BUT, Sharon/Josh are right behind her with the gossipy drama stuff. They need to be the next couple on everybody's radar as they appear to be playing both sides.
One thing I'd like to see is some sort of endurance competition that determines the new couples. The order they drop out is who they get paired up with. Which leaves them to wonder if the person they want to be partnered with falls out would they be willing to sacrifice HoH to drop out and be partners with them. I'm actually enjoying the couples twist this year and hope there is more twists in the work.

My wife and I got into an argument about whether Amanda was faking or not. Frankly, I was a little miffed that she could get emotional about some attention whore flopping around on the ground. Did any of you Amanda sympathizers notice that somebody told her all she had to do was put some sugar or honey on her slop, and Amanda replied, "No, I can't do that"? It looks to me that the slop is actually one of the most nutritious things that they have to eat in the house. Many people in the world would think they had died and gone to heaven if they could have all the BB slop that they could eat.
Another thing. The timing. It's seems to me that Allison, as much as I can't stand her, did have a real medical emergency, and Amanda had to do anything she could think of to steal the limelight.
And yeah, I know that I don't "know" for sure if she was faking, but I can't understand how anyone would not at least consider the possibility.
Changing the subject. I watched the link here to Nat's "milk maid" demo for all the world to see. Does this woman not have any boundaries?
Posted by: gray at February 27, 2008 06:49 AM
Ok, normally I have not been posting this year because winter is just so much more busier than the summer so I have to give you the kudos and a job well done HD. Your site is great as always!!
But on the whole faking thing, I just don't see it. I have passed out myself (for other reasons) and I remember being disoriented after for quite some time. I also remember feeling really wierd right before it happened (feeling instantly sick and everything sounding like it's far away) then nothing until I came to. It's a scary experience and I really don't think Amanda was faking. Of course that is just my opinion. I really really didn't like Amanda at first but I gained a new respect for her when she did not participate in the whole orgy pool session. I think if she really and truly was an attention monger, she would have been in the middle of that and she wasn't.
Have a great day all!! :-)

My only question about tonight was the POV and the whole tie into Jericho. How does that relate to the BB? Also (so I guess I have 2 questions!!) what is with the commercial on Alex and Amanda they showed afterwards? Is there anyway they can save themselves now ... maybe with the Jericho thing or do they know people like them more than Matt/Nat so they are just playing up to that?
Posted by: dora at February 27, 2008 06:55 AM
I missed the first half of the show but picked it up when both girls went down. I can't see that Amanda would fake something like this. While it did happen suddenly, I've been there, and know how it feels. To me, it looked real.
Kudos to James for stepping in. He has a kind heart and beyond his strange looks, he seems to be a genuinely nice person.
I must be missing something big time about Allison (I don't have the feeds, just AD), but I don't see why people don't like her. What am I not seeing here? Is it mainly the feeds that portray her as the bitch everyone talks about?
I'm happy that both girls are fine and it was really weird to see all those med-strangers in the house, but nice to see they were there at the drop of a dime.
I'm hoping Nat and Alex go tonight. They both are in love with themself and do not play the game....yet play each other. I'd like to see a game start sometime soon, and with Nat (the stripper) and Alex (the instigator)gone, hoepfully the porn will end, and an interesting, fun game will begin.
From HD - You meant Nat and Matt right? ;)
Posted by: DJK at February 27, 2008 07:00 AM
Hello, This was by far my favorite show yet. There was some actual game play by James. Some good fights. But Im not sure what Sheila's problem was. And I have to say that I think the fainting was real.
Posted by: Shawn at February 27, 2008 07:35 AM
Did you notice that Amanda was offered and ate a PB&J sandwich after she got back? Isn't that a slop violation?
Frankly, I think Alison Grodner showing the whole thing was exploitive.
Posted by: Ericc at February 27, 2008 07:37 AM
I cried too and I thought I was a a weirdo for crying but I feel better knowing I wasnt alone. It all was very scary and touching. THEN I watch biggest loser and Im already feeling sappy and started balling again!!! I know that has nothing to with BB but I was just a crying mess last night..
Posted by: Staci at February 27, 2008 08:13 AM
i can't really comment on the whether the incidents of the two girls were fake or not and honestly don't care at this point because it didn't gain them anything. the game continued like normal if but for a few hours off slop and a few sappy tears shed and well wishes from the hg in the end. by the next day all was back to normal...backstabbing and lies flying!
i can however, to continue to comment daily on what a wonderful person james has turned out to be. putting aside his porn movies, bizarre tattoos and weird colored hair he has to be one of the most caring people i have ever seen. looking into his eyes lets me know i have pegged him appropriately. have you read his myspace blogs (myspace.com/jzinklan)...? they are truly poetic and insightful. this guy has more layers than an onion. say what you will about his appearance and some of the crazy stuff he has done in his life but don't hold it all against him...at least until you've read all his blogs. this kid is deep.
i so agree with some of you wanting matt and natalie out asap! these two are running this show into a downward spiral of filth. where did they get natalie? this girl really has ZERO boundary's and needs to go and quickly. okay, so james has gotten naked but squirting milk from your nipple? come on!!! please someone give this girl a clue.
i really have to turn down my volume on amanda and her voice but i do enjoy alex. he has been playing the "poor me" card a bit much and the voice he uses to poke fun of amanda isn't helping his cause much but i do l want them to stay for a bit longer.
i would like to see james and chelsea win this thing unless something happens drastically to change my mind. they are a match made in heaven and a force to be reckoned with.

If BB takes A and A out, I have done with this show for season 9. I cannot see myself watching Matt and Nat in the house any longer.
Nat needs real professional help. She has taken the show to a whole new level and its pretty LOW.
Just when I am sure she has done it all, she pulls out the guns and goes to rock bottom.
Allison, is really playing A and A.
This maybe the last time I am in this site if it goes the way I feel this morning.
From HD - :(

I watch BBAD and I read the feeds- but last nights show was terribly real for me. I have witnessed seizures before and I freeze up. IDK why- but to witness (for me) its very disturbing and traumatic. I was impressed by the quick reaction of the BB staff and by the HG's. Also, the whole Alli thing- was just as scary to hear- Yes, I'll have to admit, I was crying. When things like this happen in life it does make you realize that even though you could really dislike someones attitude- but to see them helpless like the two girls--it makes you re-evaluate whats more important.
Posted by: lisa at February 27, 2008 09:54 AM
Showing how BB handles medical emergencies and that emergency staff is on hand is something we've never had to know before. But knowing that EMTs and a nurse are available probably 24/7 is good to know and I think BB needed to get that out there. (Maybe in some way to redeem themselves after Adam's big mouth in the beginning) But why was James telling Amanda she needed to drink the milk they were offering? IF she's really hypoglycemic, she would know that she could eat some honey - with or without the slop - and it would help her and doubtful she would have been penalized if BB knew in advance of her condition. Good to see her go this week, but dread more Nat drama. Even after Sheila said not to show anyone else when Amanda wanted to put her on show, she went ahead and had to show Sharon. I don't think you can produce milk years after an abortion. JMO.
From HD - It was juice they were trying to get her to drink and not milk.

I looked forward on my "tv guide" for tonight's show, and it states "A" houseguest is evicted. If they are playing as couples, I wonder why it states it in that way. I guess I'll see if there's any significance in the wording or not tonight.
Posted by: Terri at February 27, 2008 10:37 AM
Woah... Natalie the Milk Maid?? What the heck? Did I miss something? Did she bring stripper costumes or something?
From HD - I thought everyone had seen it already! LOL! Here's the link - Click here to watch! NSFW! NSFW! NSFW!
Posted by: Anna at February 27, 2008 10:47 AM
I am still in shock over the talk by Natalie to the other HG's aand the rest of the world watching about the her abortions and milk production, and THE ROTTEN TAMPON STORY!!! I thought I ws going to vomit all over my desk. WTH?? Why would she be telling ppl that story- stuck in her for 5-6 days and her BF could smell it!! OMG! No wonder Matt does'nt want anything to do with her. UGH! She stinks like roadkill! What a freak- what is her problem-- and why do the others feel so sorry for her (about Matt) and call her a delicate flower...She needs serious help!
Posted by: Lisa at February 27, 2008 11:42 AM
Thanks HD! I will have to check that out when I get home from work : )
By the way... if I may add in my thoughts on the whole medical emergency episode last night.
Fake or not, it was crazy, intense to watch. James was awesome... you can tell alot about a person in how they react to an emergency. I like him... pink hair and all. The hot firefighter/medics were a bonus last night too! haha
Posted by: Anna at February 27, 2008 12:11 PM
Ok so i guess the battle lines are drawn after seeing last nites AD. The 3 couples: Matt/Natalie, Sheila/A-baller and Ryan/Allison are a new alliance. And with James/Chelsea not able to compete for the upcoming HOH, they have a 3-1 advantage to win it. Assuming Josh/Sharon dont win HOH, one of those 2 couples will be gone next week. Even if 1 won the POV, votes would be at worst tied 1-1 and the HOH (1 of the 3 power couples) will vote them off.
Having said all this, watch BB split everyone up individually after this eviction!!!
Posted by: Andrew at February 27, 2008 12:19 PM
Okay, so this might be a longshot...Can anyone entertain the idea that Allison and Amanda were told to fake their medical issues as a part of a twist that ties to the Jericho themed virus stuff? I totally see how it all could be real, but as we were watching the live show my husband said (about Amanda, as they were squeezing the gel into her mouth) that she looked just like Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias (when she has a seizure from low blood sugar). It just made me think. Was it real or are they acting out another "twist?!"
Posted by: BBfaninOhio at February 27, 2008 12:19 PM
1st, Amanda might like attention, but she doesnt look like the type to want attention that would make her look unflattering & she told everyone later that fainting has happened often in her life & wasnt that big of a deal. if u want attention, why would u downplay the situation? 2nd, yes James was great, but he didnt even care! he told nat that he couldnt believe how everyone was carrying on & being so concerned when all she did was faint. hearing that kind of took the "hero" aspect out of it. 3rd, nat & mat have GOT to go. hes a terrible liar & is as full of crap as he is of himself & there arent even words for nat. 4th, i also heard ali tell the nurse she was fine & she sounded fine but told the HGs a different tale. Taking advantage of that situation? Unnecessary & unclassy.
Posted by: bb4l at February 27, 2008 12:29 PM
I get it they were faking the emergency as part of the twist where they bring in there identical twins!
Posted by: shawn at February 27, 2008 12:54 PM
Hey bbfaninohio, I was thinking about your comment about the twist and then I remember Alex going into the DR for Amanda while Allison was in there and she said she was all swollen, her face and arms so I don't know how to fake that.
Did they ever say what Allison's allergy was? We were watching last night and my husband thought it was a peanut allergy because of the peanuts in the pov and since she wasn't competing in it maybe she inhaled some of the dust from it that triggered an allergy. Just wondering.
From HD - She's supposed to have her allergy test this coming Friday (Feb 29th).
Posted by: Roz at February 27, 2008 01:21 PM
Real or not it was probably the best 10 minutes in BB history, and seeing "outsiders" in the House, that was cool.
Have they ever said what they think Allison had an allergic reaction to? I wonder if perhaps when she was outside running she got stung by a bee.
Yeah James stepped it up, but his nightime behavior...ugh. And Natalie, she is so much worse than Amber, she really needs some help. I too feel dirty after watching Showtime. Just really not liking this season or the whole couples thing. I chose #4 also.
Posted by: Jo at February 27, 2008 01:21 PM
regarding Allison's allergy....it's NOT peanuts. She said in the AD episode, she ate peanuts all the time at Fenway. Just throwing that out there :)
Posted by: Andrew at February 27, 2008 01:49 PM
This is my first season of bb, became an instant addict after surfing channels and found after dark sunday night. WOW! milkmaids and orgies... I had no idea!!!My husband and I watch every night now..
Posted by: Angela at February 27, 2008 02:08 PM
Hi! I think they did really well with the show, and showed pieces which were really touching. I just hope that they do something about the slop situation. If it gave Allison an allergic reaction, and caused Amanda to collapse like that... they really need to abolish slop! Sure it was fun laughing at them not being able to eat good food, but enough is enough! If you agree with me, how about you start a petition to get them to stop with the slop? I think food comps are fun, but instead of taking away food from them, give them a themed party or special alcohol to have. Giving them slop is just inhumane! At least bring back the PB&J instead. Slop is evil!
Posted by: Sheri at February 27, 2008 02:50 PM
The show was quite entertaining. More interesting than the feeds as of late. I too feel somewhat "dirty" watching some of the stripper action and the orgie lovin' hot tub action. Yes, but yet I watch..I love BB but I think it is time to either rearrange the couples(wouldn't that be fun) or split them up and have them compete as an individual. OR how about whittle the number of couples down, split them up and bring back BB past favs to make new couplings. I could think of a few combos that might be exciting.
Posted by: shebart at February 27, 2008 04:15 PM
I thought the show was intense. I am a diabetic and have been very lucky never to have had a low sugar reaction. That episode scared me and my family. I cried too.
