Who Do You Want To Win?
Choosing who you want to win might be easier for some of you than others. For me, it's difficult. One of Silly Hamsters' long-time commenters, Matthew, asked who I wanted to win yesterday evening and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.
Who I want to win isn't necessarily who I believe played the best game. I know some people don't particularly care to look at the hamsters' gameplay and only root for who they like. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that but I like to also look at gameplay when making this kind of decision.
I like Jessica but I don't think she's played the game well. But she won HOH two times! So what. She nominated Dick and Daniele the first time around, Daniele won the POV, and then Jessica lost site of the end game by putting Dustin up in Daniele's place with the intent of backdooring him. While it was fun for us to watch Dustin's bewilderment at being evicted, I don't think it was very smart to get rid of him. Jessica's HOH nominations this week would have been fine if she'd planned on backdooring Dick or Daniele. But she didn't. Zach was honest in telling Jessica what was best for her (and for him) by explaining who and why she should backdoor Daniele. She didn't listen. Because of not sticking to her plan of getting rid of a Donato her first HOH week and then by just plain making stupid decisions during her second HOH, I don't think she deserves to win. Overall, I'd give her a grade of B-.
I don't like Daniele (at all) but I believe she's played the game the best of the two blondes still remaining by winning two HOH competitions and two POV competitions. She won those competitions when it was crucial for her and her dad and if she hadn't she and/or her dad wouldn't still be in the house. Daniele did make a big mistake though by planting herself up Nick's rear end so early on in the game. She wound up isolating herself from the others in the house by spending so much time with him and when she wasn't canoodling with Nick she was fighting with her father. One set of Daniele's nominations was good (Kail and Jen) while the other (Amber and Jameka) could have been better. Because of her ability in competitions alone she's definitely one to watch out for and if she happened to be in the Final 2 this season, don't be surprised if you see me wanting her to win over the other. At this moment, I would give her a A-.
I'm 50/50 on Dick. I like him at times and don't at others. I'm not a fan of floaters in this game but I don't appreciate all of the intimidation factors he used. He would say it was all gameplay but I don't believe that. I believe part of it was because he normally wouldn't be able to act the way he did without possibly getting arrested or getting his ass kicked in the real world. Did he push the envelope? Absolutely. Did his tactics work a lot of the time? Indeed they did. His nominations of Jen and Kail during his HOH reign were good ones but he lost sight of the plan when he, yet again, let his emotions take over and put Mike up in Jen's place when she won the POV instead of sending Kail home. He can fight when he needs to and I don't think we're going to see that fight die soon. I'd give him a B+ so far.
I like Eric and believe his gameplay has been just OK. While in his case I understand, I still don't and can't wholeheartedly get behind players who continuously throw HOH competitions. It can't have been easy for him to have been chosen by Grodner as America's Player and he obviously had difficulty with it for awhile. However, for every disadvantage he had as the AP player he had advantages as well. I was glad that he was able to finally play in a POV competition and win the Power of Veto but very disappointed when he decided not to use it. If he's still in the house, his role as America's Player will probably be ending at 11:59 AM on Wednesday, September 12th. If he can escape eviction that following evening, he'll head into the three-part final HOH competition and be playing solely for himself. Does he have a chance of winning if he makes it that far? I believe so. I'd grade him a B+ so far.
This post is getting rather long but I can wrap up the rest of the hamsters rather quickly.
