Win A Trip To See The Finale - In Person!
I'm not sure if all of you are aware of this, but Real Networks is giving away a Grand Prize trip to Los Angeles for a SuperPass subscriber and a guest to attend the Big Brother Award Show on September 20th. They are also giving away three first prizes of $500.
If you're a SuperPass subscriber, you can enter the sweepstakes HERE. You can also get two extra chances to win if you download your free game and your free music for the month.
You can view the official rules HERE and also get instructions on how to enter the sweepstakes if you're not a SuperPass subscriber.
It would be really cool if one of you won the trip and emailed the pics to me so I could post them here on Silly Hamsters. LOL
Good luck to you all!

How can we go if we just want to go?
***** Note from HamsterDame - I guess you better know 'somebody'. What could it hurt by entering though?

after watching the show last night I heard what you heard hamsterdame regarding the America's choice and what the FS said. I apologize for trying to clarify your comment. I did not hear that on the live feed I only had heard them thinking BB picked who Janie spoke too! So sorry I trust and believe in your postings!! I don't always get to watch so I log on in the morn and get an update from you, Thanks. I loved the posting this morning It is so true! I think people get a little worked up over BB. I know I could not do it so I admire those who can!
***** Note from HamsterDame - It's not like I haven't missed things before myself but I heard that while it was live on the feeds. Don't worry Kar, it's all cool. :)

A FEW THINGS...
1) I was wondering if those of the Hamsters that live in Miami could possibly had any damage to their homes and if BB would tell them if they did.
2) Who do you think will be going home? I think James will but while watching the live feed he seems to do a great job a manipulating the other Hamsters. Will it be a tie?

Contest is only open to those in the US.
I'd love to see the final show live, that would be the most awesome thing.

Don what's-his-name said on House Calls yesterday that none of the houseguests or their families were directly affected by the hurricane, so BB is not going to inform any of the HGs about Katrina or any damage that it has done. Of course, the rest of the show was not aired because of the continuous news footage though.
I, myself, have mixed feelings about not informing the HGs of national disasters, terrorism, or other catastrophic events that occur while they are in the BB house. I understand about not wanting outside influences affecting the game, such as banners flying overhead. But I think there is a big difference between banners and hurricanes that devastate whole cities. I actually watched CNN all morning and after seeing the after-effects of the hurricane, I would be devasted on two different levels if something of this extreme was kept from me; 1. the hurricane devastation itself, and 2. emerging from the house to find New Orleans almost wiped out and no one telling me for the sake of a tv show.
I understand that during Season 2, BB did not tell the HGs about what happened to New York on Sept 11th. Is this true? I wasn't watching Big Brother then. Again, the same situation would apply. Imagine stepping out and finding that an extreme act of terrorism wiped out the World Trade Center and killed thousands of people. BB chose not to tell you, due to it being an outside influence that may affect the game. Is a reality tv game show that important?
On the otherhand, I've read that people appreciated the fact that the HGs didn't know about Sept 11th and the show went on because it gave them an outlet for an hour or two to escape the horror, and watch something completely unconnected. Also, when HGs sign their contracts to be on the show, they are signing away their lives for 3 months, with the understanding that they won't know what's going on in the world, like if Britney Spears had her baby. ;-)
So, at the end of this post, I guess I am leaning more towards telling the HGs about Hurricane Katrina, just simply because they should know that such a catastrophic event has occured. But I am curious to hear what the rest of you feel?
***** Note from HamsterDame - You are misinformed when it comes to the HGs not being told about 9/11. They were told about 9/11. Monica in particular because her cousin was missing at the time (later declared dead) from one of the towers. BB gave them the choice of continuing on with the game or not and they chose to continue.
But no, unless it directly affects the houseguests, I don't believe they are to be told about what's going on outside the house. They knew going in they were going to have no access to the news, etc. Unless it directly affected them or a family member, why tell them? They knew what they were signing up for.

Thanks so much, HamsterDame, for clarifying about 9/11. Like I stated before, I wasn't watching BB then, and wasn't sure if what I read was correct or not. I knew someone from here would know the answer, and would correct me if I was wrong! :)
I am glad I was wrong, though! I like how BB gave them the choice to continue or not. I think that is what I would like to see happen with this season and Hurricane Katrina. But we'll see...
What do the rest of you think?

***** Note from barry wilson - I think that not informing them was a pretty good move on there part!
p.s. who is cool now?!
***** Note from HamsterDame - Hahahaha Barry! :)

I think they should know about Katrina and the devestation caused, incase they choose to leave to make donations. Maybe they will realize the trivial goings on in the house and gain perspective of important things and not get so upset about things like phone calls. They have every right as fellow humans and Americans to know there are people suffering and in great need of help.
***** Note from HamsterDame - I thought this post was about the Real sweepstakes? *shrugs*

Sorry hamsterdame-but guess the sweepstakes is not on the top of the list for us right now.
Prayers to all the dear people who are suffering b/c of Katrina!
